9 El quinto ángel tocó su trompeta y vi que había caído del cielo a la tierra una estrella, a la cual se le entregó la llave del pozo del abismo. 2 Lo abrió y del pozo subió una humareda, como la de un horno gigantesco que oscureció el sol y el aire. 3 De la humareda descendieron langostas sobre la tierra y se les dio poder como el que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra. 4 Se les ordenó que no dañaran la hierba de la tierra, ni ninguna planta ni ningún árbol, sino solo a las personas que no llevaran en la frente el sello de Dios. 5 No se les dio permiso para matarlas, sino solo para atormentarlas durante cinco meses. Su tormento es como el producido por la picadura de un escorpión. 6 En aquellos días la gente buscará la muerte, pero no la encontrará; desearán morir, pero la muerte huirá de ellos.
7 El aspecto de las langostas era como de caballos equipados para la guerra. Llevaban en la cabeza algo que parecía una corona de oro y su cara se asemejaba a un rostro humano. 8 Su crin parecía cabello de mujer y sus dientes eran como de león. 9 Llevaban coraza como de hierro y el ruido de sus alas se escuchaba como el estruendo de carros de muchos caballos que se lanzan a la batalla. 10 Tenían cola y aguijón como de escorpión. En la cola tenían poder para herir a la gente durante cinco meses. 11 El rey que los dirigía era el ángel del abismo, que en hebreo se llama Abadón y en griego Apolión.[a]
12 El primer ¡ay! ya pasó, pero vienen todavía otros dos.
13 El sexto ángel tocó su trompeta y oí una voz que salía de entre los cuernos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios. 14 A este ángel que tenía la trompeta, la voz le dijo: «Suelta a los cuatro ángeles que están atados a la orilla del gran río Éufrates». 15 Así que los cuatro ángeles que habían sido preparados precisamente para esa hora y ese día, mes y año, quedaron sueltos para matar a la tercera parte de la humanidad. 16 Oí que el número de las tropas de caballería llegaba a doscientos millones.
17 Así vi en la visión a los caballos y a sus jinetes: tenían coraza de color rojo encendido, púrpura y amarillo como azufre. La cabeza de los caballos era como de león y por la boca echaban fuego, humo y azufre. 18 La tercera parte de la humanidad murió a causa de las tres plagas de fuego, humo y azufre que salían de la boca de los caballos. 19 Es que el poder de los caballos radicaba en su boca y en su cola; pues sus colas, semejantes a serpientes, tenían cabezas con las que hacían daño.
20 El resto de la humanidad, los que no murieron a causa de estas plagas, tampoco se arrepintieron de sus malas acciones ni dejaron de adorar a los demonios y a los ídolos de oro, plata, bronce, piedra y madera, los cuales no pueden ver ni oír ni caminar. 21 Tampoco se arrepintieron de sus asesinatos ni de sus artes mágicas, inmoralidad sexual y robos.

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.(A) The star was given the key(B) to the shaft of the Abyss.(C) 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.(D) The sun and sky were darkened(E) by the smoke from the Abyss.(F) 3 And out of the smoke locusts(G) came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions(H) of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm(I) the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,(J) but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(K) 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.(L) And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion(M) when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.(N)
7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.(O) On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.(P) 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.(Q) 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.(R) 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.(S) 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss,(T) whose name in Hebrew(U) is Abaddon(V) and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
12 The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.(W)
13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns(X) of the golden altar that is before God.(Y) 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels(Z) who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”(AA) 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released(AB) to kill a third(AC) of mankind.(AD) 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.(AE)
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent(AK) of the work of their hands;(AL) they did not stop worshiping demons,(AM) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.(AN) 21 Nor did they repent(AO) of their murders, their magic arts,(AP) their sexual immorality(AQ) or their thefts.

От дыма из колодца потемнели даже солнце и небо. 3 Из дыма вышла на землю саранча,[a] которой дана была власть, какую имеют на земле скорпионы. 4 Ей было запрещено причинять вред земной траве, любым зелёным растениям и любому дереву, но она могла вредить тем людям, у которых на лбу не было печати Всевышнего. 5 Саранче не было разрешено убивать их, а только мучить пять месяцев. И люди мучились от боли, которая была как от укусов скорпиона. 6 В те дни люди будут искать смерти и не смогут её найти, они захотят умереть, но сама смерть убежит от них.
7 Саранча была похожа на боевых коней, готовых к сражению. На её головах было нечто вроде корон, как будто из золота, а её лица были похожи на человеческие. 8 Её волосы напоминали женские, а зубы были похожи на клыки льва. 9 На саранче была твёрдая, как железо, броня, и шум её крыльев напоминал шум коней и боевых колесниц, мчащихся на сражение.[b] 10 У неё были хвосты, как у скорпионов, и жала, и в этих хвостах заключалась её власть вредить людям пять месяцев. 11 Царём над ней был ангел бездны, его звали по-еврейски Абаддон, а по-гречески Аполлион («губитель»).
12 Прошло первое горе, но ещё предстояли два других.
13 Затрубил шестой ангел, и я услышал голос, раздававшийся от четырёх рогов золотого жертвенника, находящегося перед Всевышним.[c] 14 Этот голос сказал шестому ангелу, держащему трубу:
– Освободи четырёх ангелов, которые связаны у великой реки Евфрата.
15 И четыре ангела, которые были приготовлены для этого часа, дня, месяца и года, были освобождены, чтобы погубить третью часть человечества. 16 Конное войско насчитывало двести миллионов всадников: я слышал их число.
17 Я видел в моём видении этих коней и всадников: на них огненно-красная, тёмно-синяя и жёлтая, как сера, броня. Головы коней похожи на головы львов, и из их пасти выходят огонь, дым и сера. 18 Этими тремя губительными силами – огнём, дымом и серой, выходившими из их пастей, была погублена третья часть людей. 19 Сила коней заключается в их пастях и в их хвостах. Хвосты эти похожи на змей: у них есть головы, которыми они и жалят.
20 Те, кто не был погублен этими бедствиями, так и не раскаялись в своих делах. Они по-прежнему поклонялись демонам и идолам из золота, серебра, бронзы, камня и дерева – идолам, которые не могут ни видеть, ни слышать, ни ходить.[d] 21 Они не раскаялись ни в убийствах своих, ни в колдовстве, ни в разврате, ни в воровстве.

Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit
9 Then the fifth angel sounded: (A)And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to (B)the [a]bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the (C)sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, (D)as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded (E)not to harm (F)the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have (G)the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And [b]they were not given authority to kill them, (H)but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days (I)men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 (J)The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. (K)On their heads were crowns of something like gold, (L)and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and (M)their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was (N)like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over them (O)the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is [c]Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name [d]Apollyon.
12 (P)One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
Sixth Trumpet: The Angels from the Euphrates
13 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the (Q)golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound (R)at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a (S)third of mankind. 16 Now (T)the number of the army (U)of the horsemen was two hundred million; (V)I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; (W)and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. 19 For [e]their power is in their mouth and in their tails; (X)for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm.
20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, (Y)did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship (Z)demons, (AA)and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders (AB)or their [f]sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
