La quinta trompeta
9 El quinto ángel tocó la trompeta(A), y vi una estrella que había caído del cielo(B) a la tierra, y se le dio la llave(C) del pozo del abismo(D). 2 Cuando abrió el pozo del abismo, subió humo(E) del pozo como el humo de un gran horno, y el sol y el aire(F) se oscurecieron por el humo del pozo. 3 Del humo salieron langostas sobre[a] la tierra(G), y se les dio poder como tienen poder[b] los escorpiones de la tierra(H).
4 Se les dijo que no dañaran(I) la hierba de la tierra(J), ni ninguna cosa verde, ni ningún árbol, sino solo a los hombres que no tienen el sello de Dios en la frente(K). 5 No se les permitió matar a nadie[c], sino atormentarlos por cinco meses(L). Su tormento era como el tormento de un escorpión cuando pica[d] al hombre(M). 6 En aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte y no la hallarán(N); y ansiarán morir, y la muerte huirá[e] de ellos.
7 El aspecto[f] de las langostas era semejante al de caballos dispuestos para la batalla(O), y sobre sus cabezas tenían como coronas que parecían de oro, y sus caras eran como rostros humanos. 8 Tenían cabellos como cabellos de mujer, y sus dientes eran como de leones(P). 9 También tenían corazas como corazas de hierro. El ruido de sus alas era como el estruendo de carros, de muchos caballos que se lanzan a la batalla(Q). 10 Tienen colas parecidas a escorpiones(R), y aguijones. En sus colas está su poder para hacer daño a los hombres(S) por cinco meses(T). 11 Tienen sobre ellos por rey al ángel del abismo(U), cuyo nombre en hebreo(V) es Abadón[g](W), y en griego se llama Apolión[h].
12 El primer ¡ay(X)! ha pasado; pero aún vienen dos ayes después de estas cosas.
La sexta trompeta
13 El sexto ángel tocó la trompeta, y oí una voz que salía de los cuatro[i] cuernos(Y) del altar de oro(Z) que está delante de Dios, 14 y decía al sexto ángel que tenía la trompeta: «Suelta a los cuatro ángeles(AA) que están atados junto al gran río Éufrates(AB)». 15 Y fueron desatados los cuatro ángeles que habían sido preparados para la hora, el día, el mes, y el año(AC), para matar a la tercera parte de la humanidad[j](AD).
16 El número de los ejércitos de los jinetes era doscientos millones(AE); yo escuché su número(AF). 17 Así es como vi[k] en la visión(AG) los caballos y a los que los montaban: los jinetes tenían corazas color de fuego, de jacinto[l] y de azufre(AH). Las cabezas de los caballos eran como cabezas de leones, y de sus bocas salía fuego(AI), humo, y azufre(AJ).
18 La tercera parte(AK) de la humanidad[m] fue muerta por estas tres plagas: por el fuego(AL), el humo, y el azufre que salían de sus bocas. 19 Porque el poder de los caballos está en su boca y en sus colas; pues sus colas son semejantes a serpientes, tienen cabezas y con ellas hacen daño.
20 El resto de la humanidad[n], los que no fueron muertos por estas plagas, no se arrepintieron(AM) de las obras de sus manos(AN) ni dejaron de[o] adorar a los demonios(AO) y a los ídolos de oro, de plata, de bronce, de piedra, y de madera, que no pueden ver ni oír ni andar(AP). 21 Tampoco se arrepintieron de sus homicidios(AQ) ni de sus hechicerías(AR) ni de su inmoralidad[p](AS) ni de sus robos.

9 Nang patunugin ng ikalimang anghel ang kanyang trumpeta, nakita ko ang isang bituin mula sa langit na nahulog sa lupa. At ibinigay sa kanya ang susi sa pintuan ng kailaliman.[a] 2 At nang buksan niya ito, lumabas ang makapal na usok na parang galing sa malaking hurno. Kaya dumilim ang mundo dahil natakpan ng usok ang araw. 3 At mula sa usok, naglabasan ang mga balang at kumalat sa lupa. Binigyan sila ng kapangyarihang manakit tulad ng alakdan. 4 Ngunit pinagbawalan silang maminsala ng mga damo o anumang halaman at puno, kundi ng mga tao lang na walang tatak ng Dios sa kanilang noo. 5 Pinagbawalan din silang patayin ang mga taong ito, kundi pahirapan lang sa loob ng limang buwan. Ang hapdi ng kagat nila ay katulad ng kagat ng alakdan. 6 Kaya sa loob ng limang buwan, mas gugustuhin pa ng mga tao na mamatay, ngunit hindi ito mangyayari kahit gustuhin man nila.
7 Ang mga balang ay parang mga kabayong nakahanda sa digmaan. May nakapatong sa mga ulo nila na parang koronang ginto. Ang mga mukha nila ay parang mukha ng tao. 8 Mahaba ang buhok nila tulad ng sa mga babae, at ang ngipin nila ay parang ngipin ng leon. 9 Ang dibdib nila ay natatakpan ng parang pananggalang na bakal at ang tunog ng pakpak nila ay parang ingay ng mga karwaheng hinihila ng mga kabayo na sumusugod sa labanan. 10 Ang buntot nilang tulad ng sa alakdan ay may kapangyarihang manakit sa mga tao sa loob ng limang buwan. 11 May haring namumuno sa kanila – ang anghel na nagbukas ng pintuan sa kailaliman. Ang pangalan niya sa wikang Hebreo ay Abadon, at Apolyon[b] naman sa wikang Griego.
12 Tapos na ang unang nakakatakot na pangyayari ngunit may dalawa pang darating.
13 Nang patunugin ng ikaanim na anghel ang kanyang trumpeta, narinig ko ang isang tinig mula sa mga sulok ng gintong altar na nasa harapan ng Dios. 14 Sinabi ng tinig sa ikaanim na anghel na may trumpeta, “Pakawalan mo na ang apat na anghel na nakagapos doon sa malaking ilog ng Eufrates!” 15 Kaya pinakawalan ang apat na anghel na iyon. Inihanda sila noon pa para sa oras na iyon upang patayin ang ikatlong bahagi ng sangkatauhan. 16 Narinig ko na ang bilang ng mga hukbo nilang nakasakay sa kabayo ay 200,000,000. 17 At nakita ko sa pangitain ko ang mga kabayo at ang mga sakay nito. Ang mga nakasakay ay may mga pananggalang na pula na tulad ng apoy, asul na tulad ng sapiro at dilaw na tulad ng asupre. Ang ulo ng mga kabayo ay parang ulo ng leon at sa bibig nila ay may lumalabas na apoy, usok at asupre. 18 At sa pamamagitan ng tatlong salot na ito – ang apoy, usok at asupre – namatay ang ikatlong bahagi ng mga tao. 19 Ang kapangyarihan ng mga kabayo ay nasa bibig at buntot nila. Ang buntot nila ay may mga ulo na parang mga ahas, at ito ang ginagamit nila sa pananakit ng mga tao.
20 Ngunit ang mga tao na natitirang buhay ay ayaw pa ring tumalikod sa mga dios-diosang ginawa nila. Patuloy pa rin sila sa pagsamba sa masasamang espiritu at mga rebultong yari sa ginto, pilak, tanso, bato, at kahoy. Ang mga rebultong ito ay hindi nakakakita, hindi nakakarinig, at hindi nakakalakad. 21 Hindi rin sila nagsisi sa kanilang pagpatay, pangkukulam, sekswal na imoralidad at pagnanakaw.

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.(A) The star was given the key(B) to the shaft of the Abyss.(C) 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.(D) The sun and sky were darkened(E) by the smoke from the Abyss.(F) 3 And out of the smoke locusts(G) came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions(H) of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm(I) the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,(J) but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(K) 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.(L) And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion(M) when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.(N)
7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.(O) On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.(P) 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.(Q) 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.(R) 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.(S) 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss,(T) whose name in Hebrew(U) is Abaddon(V) and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
12 The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.(W)
13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns(X) of the golden altar that is before God.(Y) 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels(Z) who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”(AA) 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released(AB) to kill a third(AC) of mankind.(AD) 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.(AE)
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent(AK) of the work of their hands;(AL) they did not stop worshiping demons,(AM) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.(AN) 21 Nor did they repent(AO) of their murders, their magic arts,(AP) their sexual immorality(AQ) or their thefts.
