5 Y VI en la mano derecha del que estaba sentado sobre el trono un libro escrito de dentro y de fuera, sellado con siete sellos.
2 Y vi un fuerte ángel predicando en alta voz: ¿Quién es digno de abrir el libro, y de desatar sus sellos?
3 Y ninguno podía, ni en el cielo, ni en la tierra, ni debajo de la tierra, abrir el libro, ni mirarlo.
4 Y yo lloraba mucho, porque no había sido hallado ninguno digno de abrir el libro, ni de leerlo, ni de mirarlo.
5 Y uno de los ancianos me dice: No llores: he aquí el león de la tribu de Judá, la raíz de David, que ha vencido para abrir el libro, y desatar sus siete sellos.
6 Y miré; y he aquí en medio del trono y de los cuatro animales, y en medio de los ancianos, estaba un Cordero como inmolado, que tenía siete cuernos, y siete ojos, que son los siete Espíritus de Dios enviados en toda la tierra.
7 Y él vino, y tomó el libro de la mano derecha de aquel que estaba sentado en el trono.
8 Y cuando hubo tomado el libro, los cuatro animales y los veinticuatro ancianos se postraron delante del Cordero, teniendo cada uno arpas, y copas de oro llenas de perfumes, que son las oraciones de los santos:
9 Y cantaban un nuevo cántico, diciendo: Digno eres de tomar el libro, y de abrir sus sellos; porque tú fuiste inmolado, y nos has redimido para Dios con tu sangre, de todo linaje y lengua y pueblo y nación;
10 Y nos has hecho para nuestro Dios reyes y sacerdotes, y reinaremos sobre la tierra.
11 Y miré, y oí voz de muchos ángeles alrededor del trono, y de los animales, y de los ancianos; y la multitud de ellos era millones de millones,
12 Que decían en alta voz: El Cordero que fué inmolado es digno de tomar el poder y riquezas y sabiduría, y fortaleza y honra y gloria y alabanza.
13 Y oí á toda criatura que está en el cielo, y sobre la tierra, y debajo de la tierra, y que está en el mar, y todas las cosas que en ellos están, diciendo: Al que está sentado en el trono, y al Cordero, sea la bendición, y la honra, y la gloria, y el poder, para siempre jamás.
14 Y los cuatro animales decían: Amén. Y los veinticuatro ancianos cayeron sobre sus rostros, y adoraron al que vive para siempre jamás.

5 En la mano derecha del que estaba sentado en el trono vi un rollo escrito por ambos lados y sellado con siete sellos. 2 También vi a un ángel poderoso que proclamaba a gran voz: «¿Quién es digno de romper los sellos y de abrir el rollo?». 3 Pero ni en el cielo ni en la tierra, ni debajo de la tierra, hubo nadie capaz de abrirlo ni de examinar su contenido. 4 Y yo lloraba mucho porque no se había encontrado a nadie que fuera digno de abrir el rollo ni de examinar su contenido. 5 Uno de los ancianos me dijo: «¡Deja de llorar que ya el León de la tribu de Judá, la Raíz de David, ha vencido! Él sí puede abrir el rollo y sus siete sellos».
6 Entonces vi en medio de los cuatro seres vivientes, del trono y los ancianos, a un Cordero que estaba de pie y parecía haber sido sacrificado. Tenía siete cuernos y siete ojos, que son los siete espíritus[a] de Dios enviados por toda la tierra. 7 Se acercó y recibió el rollo de la mano derecha del que estaba sentado en el trono. 8 Cuando lo tomó, los cuatro seres vivientes y los veinticuatro ancianos se postraron delante del Cordero. Cada uno tenía un arpa y copas de oro llenas de incienso, que son las oraciones del pueblo de Dios. 9 Y entonaban este nuevo cántico:
«Digno eres de recibir el rollo escrito
y de romper sus sellos,
porque fuiste sacrificado,
y con tu sangre compraste para Dios
gente de toda tribu, lengua, pueblo y nación.
10 De ellos hiciste un reino;
los hiciste sacerdotes al servicio de nuestro Dios,
y reinarán[b] sobre la tierra».
11 Luego miré y oí la voz de muchos ángeles que estaban alrededor del trono, de los seres vivientes y de los ancianos. El número de ellos era millares de millares y millones de millones. 12 Cantaban con todas sus fuerzas:
«¡Digno es el Cordero, que ha sido sacrificado,
de recibir el poder,
la riqueza y la sabiduría,
la fortaleza y la honra,
la gloria y la alabanza!».
13 Y oí a cuanta criatura hay en el cielo, en la tierra, debajo de la tierra y en el mar, a todos en la creación, que cantaban:
«¡Al que está sentado en el trono y al Cordero,
sean la alabanza y la honra, la gloria y el poder,
por los siglos de los siglos!».
14 Los cuatro seres vivientes exclamaron: «¡Amén!», mientras los ancianos se postraron y adoraron.

Las hojas del libro estaban escritas por ambos lados, y el libro estaba cerrado con siete sellos.[a] 2 Luego vi a un ángel poderoso que preguntaba con fuerte voz: «¿Quién tiene la autoridad de romper los sellos y de abrir el rollo?»
3 Y no había nadie en todo el universo que pudiera abrir el rollo ni mirar su contenido. 4 Yo me puse a llorar mucho, porque no había quien pudiera hacerlo. 5 Pero uno de los ancianos[b] me dijo:
«No llores más, que ha salido vencedor el heredero del trono de David, a quien se le llama el León de Judá.[c] Sólo él tiene la autoridad de romper los siete sellos y de abrir el rollo.»
6 Entonces vi un Cordero[d] cerca del trono. En el cuerpo llevaba las marcas de haber sido sacrificado. Estaba de pie, rodeado por los cuatro seres vivientes y por los veinticuatro ancianos. Tenía siete cuernos,[e] y también siete ojos. Éstos son los siete espíritus de Dios,[f] que han sido enviados para visitar toda la tierra. 7 El Cordero fue y tomó el libro enrollado que tenía en la mano derecha el que estaba sentado en el trono. 8 Apenas hizo esto, los cuatro seres vivientes y los veinticuatro ancianos se arrodillaron delante de él. Cada uno tenía un arpa, y llevaba una copa llena de incienso que representaba las oraciones del pueblo de Dios. 9 Y todos ellos cantaban esta nueva canción:
«Sólo tú mereces tomar el libro
y romper sus sellos.
Porque fuiste sacrificado,
y con tu sangre
rescataste para Dios,
a gente de toda raza,
idioma, pueblo y nación.
10 Los hiciste reyes
y sacerdotes para nuestro Dios;
ellos gobernarán la tierra.»
11 Luego oí el murmullo de muchos ángeles. Eran millones y millones de ángeles que rodeaban el trono, a los cuatro seres vivientes y a los veinticuatro ancianos. 12 Y decían con fuerte voz:
«El Cordero que fue sacrificado,
merece recibir el poder y la riqueza,
la sabiduría y la fuerza,
el honor y la alabanza.»
13 Y también oí decir a todos los seres del universo:
«¡Que todos alaben
al que está sentado en el trono,
y también al Cordero!
Que lo llamen maravilloso,
y por siempre admiren su poder.»
14 Los cuatro seres vivientes decían: «¡Así sea!», y los veinticuatro ancianos se arrodillaron y adoraron al que está sentado en el trono, y al Cordero.

- Apocalipsis 5:1 El libro enrollado era un documento hecho de hojas de papiro, o de cuero, cosidas, y se enrrollaba para ser manejado con facilidad. Los sellos eran piezas de cera que se ponían en el borde externo del rollo para mantenerlo cerrado. Los siete sellos indican que no era posible abrir el rollo.

- Apocalipsis 5:5 Tanto el León de Judá como el heredero del trono de David son títulos que se le dan al Mesías (compárese con Génesis 49.9-10 y con Isaías 11.1-10).

5 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne(A) a scroll with writing on both sides(B) and sealed(C) with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel(D) proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion(E) of the tribe of Judah,(F) the Root of David,(G) has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw a Lamb,(H) looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures(I) and the elders.(J) The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes,(K) which are the seven spirits[a](L) of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.(M) 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures(N) and the twenty-four elders(O) fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp(P) and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers(Q) of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:(R)
“You are worthy(S) to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood(T) you purchased(U) for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.(V)
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests(W) to serve our God,

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.(Y) They encircled the throne and the living creatures(Z) and the elders.(AA) 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb,(AB) who was slain,(AC)
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”(AD)
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth(AE) and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne(AF) and to the Lamb(AG)
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”(AH)
14 The four living creatures(AI) said, “Amen,”(AJ) and the elders(AK) fell down and worshiped.(AL)
