18 Después de esto vi a otro ángel descender del cielo con gran poder; y la tierra fue alumbrada con su gloria. 2 Y clamó con voz potente, diciendo: Ha caído, ha caído la gran Babilonia,(A) y se ha hecho habitación de demonios y guarida de todo espíritu inmundo, y albergue de toda ave inmunda y aborrecible.(B) 3 Porque todas las naciones han bebido del vino del furor de su fornicación;(C) y los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra se han enriquecido de la potencia de sus deleites. 4 Y oí otra voz del cielo, que decía: Salid de ella, pueblo mío,(D) para que no seáis partícipes de sus pecados, ni recibáis parte de sus plagas; 5 porque sus pecados han llegado hasta el cielo,(E) y Dios se ha acordado de sus maldades. 6 Dadle a ella como ella os ha dado,(F) y pagadle doble según sus obras; en el cáliz en que ella preparó bebida, preparadle a ella el doble. 7 Cuanto ella se ha glorificado y ha vivido en deleites, tanto dadle de tormento y llanto; porque dice en su corazón: Yo estoy sentada como reina, y no soy viuda, y no veré llanto; 8 por lo cual en un solo día vendrán sus plagas;(G) muerte, llanto y hambre, y será quemada con fuego; porque poderoso es Dios el Señor, que la juzga.
9 Y los reyes de la tierra que han fornicado con ella, y con ella han vivido en deleites, llorarán y harán lamentación sobre ella, cuando vean el humo de su incendio, 10 parándose lejos por el temor de su tormento, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay, de la gran ciudad de Babilonia, la ciudad fuerte; porque en una hora vino tu juicio!(H)
11 Y los mercaderes de la tierra lloran y hacen lamentación sobre ella, porque ninguno compra más sus mercaderías; 12 mercadería de oro, de plata, de piedras preciosas, de perlas, de lino fino, de púrpura, de seda, de escarlata, de toda madera olorosa, de todo objeto de marfil, de todo objeto de madera preciosa, de cobre, de hierro y de mármol; 13 y canela, especias aromáticas, incienso, mirra, olíbano, vino, aceite, flor de harina, trigo, bestias, ovejas, caballos y carros, y esclavos, almas de hombres. 14 Los frutos codiciados por tu alma se apartaron de ti, y todas las cosas exquisitas y espléndidas te han faltado, y nunca más las hallarás.
15 Los mercaderes de estas cosas, que se han enriquecido a costa de ella, se pararán lejos por el temor de su tormento, llorando y lamentando, 16 y diciendo: ¡Ay, ay, de la gran ciudad, que estaba vestida de lino fino, de púrpura y de escarlata, y estaba adornada de oro, de piedras preciosas y de perlas! 17 Porque en una hora han sido consumidas tantas riquezas. Y todo piloto, y todos los que viajan en naves, y marineros, y todos los que trabajan en el mar, se pararon lejos; 18 y viendo el humo de su incendio, dieron voces, diciendo: ¿Qué ciudad era semejante a esta gran ciudad? 19 Y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas, y dieron voces, llorando y lamentando, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad, en la cual todos los que tenían naves en el mar se habían enriquecido de sus riquezas; pues en una hora ha sido desolada!(I) 20 Alégrate sobre ella, cielo,(J) y vosotros, santos, apóstoles y profetas; porque Dios os ha hecho justicia en ella.
21 Y un ángel poderoso tomó una piedra, como una gran piedra de molino, y la arrojó en el mar, diciendo: Con el mismo ímpetu será derribada Babilonia,(K) la gran ciudad, y nunca más será hallada.(L) 22 Y voz de arpistas, de músicos, de flautistas y de trompeteros no se oirá más en ti;(M) y ningún artífice de oficio alguno se hallará más en ti, ni ruido de molino se oirá más en ti. 23 Luz de lámpara no alumbrará más en ti, ni voz de esposo y de esposa se oirá más en ti;(N) porque tus mercaderes eran los grandes de la tierra; pues por tus hechicerías fueron engañadas todas las naciones. 24 Y en ella se halló la sangre de los profetas y de los santos, y de todos los que han sido muertos en la tierra.(O)

18 Después de esto vi a otro ángel que bajaba del cielo. Tenía mucho poder y la tierra se iluminó con su esplendor. 2 Gritó a gran voz:
«¡Ha caído! ¡Ha caído la gran Babilonia!
Se ha convertido en morada de demonios
y en guarida de todo espíritu maligno,
en nido de toda ave impura y de todo animal detestable.
3 Porque todas las naciones han bebido
el excitante vino de su adulterio;
los reyes de la tierra cometieron adulterio con ella
y los comerciantes de la tierra se enriquecieron
a costa de lo que ella despilfarraba en sus lujos».
4 Luego oí otra voz del cielo que decía:
«Salgan de ella, pueblo mío,
para que no sean cómplices de sus pecados
ni los alcance ninguna de sus plagas;
5 pues sus pecados se han amontonado hasta el cielo
y de sus injusticias se ha acordado Dios.
6 Páguenle con la misma moneda;
denle el doble de lo que ha cometido,
y en la misma copa en que ella preparó bebida
mézclenle una doble porción.
7 En la medida en que ella se entregó a la vanagloria y al arrogante lujo
denle tormento y aflicción;
porque en su corazón se jacta:
“Estoy sentada como reina;
no soy viuda ni sufriré jamás”.
8 Por eso, en un solo día le sobrevendrán sus plagas:
pestilencia, aflicción y hambre.
Será consumida por el fuego,
porque poderoso es el Señor Dios que la juzga».
9 Cuando los reyes de la tierra que cometieron adulterio con ella y compartieron su lujo vean el humo del fuego que la consume, llorarán de dolor por ella. 10 Aterrorizados al ver semejante castigo, se mantendrán a distancia y gritarán:
«¡Ay! ¡Ay de ti, la gran ciudad,
Babilonia, ciudad poderosa,
porque en una sola hora ha llegado tu juicio!».
11 Los comerciantes de la tierra llorarán y harán duelo por ella, porque ya no habrá quien compre sus mercaderías: 12 artículos de oro, plata, piedras preciosas y perlas; tela de lino fino, color púrpura, telas de seda y color escarlata; toda clase de maderas aromáticas; los más variados objetos, hechos de marfil, de madera preciosa, de bronce, de hierro y de mármol; 13 cargamentos de canela y especias aromáticas; de incienso, mirra y perfumes; de vino y aceite; de harina refinada y trigo; de ganado vacuno y de ovejas; de caballos y carruajes; y hasta de seres humanos, vendidos como esclavos.
14 Y dirán: «Se ha apartado de ti el fruto que con toda el alma codiciabas. Has perdido todas tus cosas suntuosas y espléndidas, y nunca las recuperarás». 15 Los comerciantes que vendían estas mercaderías y se habían enriquecido a costa de ella se mantendrán a distancia, aterrorizados al ver semejante castigo. Llorarán y harán lamentación:
16 «¡Ay! ¡Ay de la gran ciudad,
vestida de tela de lino fino, de color púrpura y escarlata,
adornada con oro, piedras preciosas y perlas,
17 porque en una sola hora ha quedado destruida toda su riqueza!».
Todos los capitanes de barco, los pasajeros, los marineros y todos los que viven del mar se detendrán a lo lejos. 18 Al ver el humo del fuego que la consume, exclamarán: «¿Qué otra ciudad podría compararse con esta gran ciudad?». 19 Se echaron polvo en la cabeza, llorando y lamentándose a gritos:
«¡Ay! ¡Ay de la gran ciudad
con cuya opulencia se enriquecieron
todos los dueños de flotas navieras!
¡En una sola hora ha quedado destruida!
20 »¡Alégrate, oh cielo, por lo que le ha sucedido!
¡Alégrense también ustedes, creyentes, apóstoles y profetas!,
porque Dios, al juzgarla,
les ha hecho justicia».
21 Entonces un ángel poderoso levantó una piedra del tamaño de una gran rueda de molino y la arrojó al mar diciendo:
«Así también tú, Babilonia, gran ciudad,
serás derribada con la misma violencia
y desaparecerás de la faz de la tierra.
22 Jamás volverá a oírse en ti
la música de los cantantes
y de arpas, flautas y trompetas.
Jamás volverá a hallarse en ti
ningún tipo de artesano.
Jamás volverá a oírse en ti
el ruido de la rueda de molino.
23 Jamás volverá a brillar en ti
la luz de ninguna lámpara.
Jamás volverá a sentirse en ti
la voz del novio y de la novia.
Porque tus comerciantes
eran los magnates del mundo,
porque con tus hechicerías
engañaste a todas las naciones,
24 porque en ti se halló sangre de profetas y de creyentes
y de todos los que han sido asesinados en la tierra».

18 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

18 After these things I saw another malach (angel) coming down out of Shomayim having great samchut (authority); and ha’aretz (the earth) was illuminated by the splendor of him. [YECHEZKEL 43:2]
2 And he cried in a kol gadol, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Bavel Hagedolah. It has become a habitation of shedim (demons) and a beit hasohar of every ruach temei’ah (unclean spirit) and beit hasohar of every unclean bird and a beit hasohar of every unclean beast. And has become detestable, [YESHAYAH 13:21, 22; 34:11,13-15; YIRMEYAH 50:39; 51:37; TZEFANYAH 2:14,15]
3 Because of the yayin (wine) of the wrath of her zenut (fornication) all the Goyim (Nations) have drunk, and the melachim (kings) of ha’aretz committed zenut with her, and the merchants of ha’aretz by the resources of her luxury became rich." [YECHEZKEL 27:9-25]
4 And I heard another kol (voice) out of Shomayim saying, "Come out of her, my people, so that you may not participate in the chatta’im (sins) of her, and some of her makkot (plagues) you may not receive, [YESHAYAH 48:20; YIRMEYAH 50:8; 51:6,9,45; BERESHIS 19:15],
5 “Because her chatta’im (sins) have piled up reaching up to Shomayim, and Hashem has remembered the unrighteousnesses of her. [2Ch 28:9; Ezra 9:6; Jer 51:9]
6 “Render to her as also she herself rendered; serve up double according to her ma’asim, in the kos (cup) which she mixed. [Ps 137:8; Jer 50:15,29; Isa 40:2]
7 “As she gave kavod (glory) to herself and lived in luxury, so give her an equal measure of torment and agmat nefesh (grief), because in her lev (heart) she says, ‘I sit as a malkah (queen) and not an almanah (widow), and I will never see agmat nefesh (grief).’ [Ezek 28:2- 8; Ps 10:6; Isa 47:7,8; Zeph 2:15]
8 “Therefore in one day will come the makkot (plagues) on her, Mavet (Death) and Avel (Mourning) and Ra’av (Famine), and with eish (fire) she will be burned up, because Chazak is Hashem Adonoi, the Shofet of her. YESHAYAH 9:14; 47:9; YIRMEYAH 50:31,32]
9 “And the melachim (kings) of ha’aretz, the ones having committed zenut (fornication) with her and having lived in luxury, when they see the smoke of her burning, will weep and wail over her. [YIRMEYAH 51:8; YECHEZKEL 26:17,18]
10 “They will stand afar off, because of the fear of her torment, saying ‘Oy, oy to the Ir Hagedolah, Bavel the strong city, because in one hour came the mishpat of you.’
11 “And the merchants of ha’aretz (the earth) cry and have agmat nefesh (grief) over her, because the cargo of them no one buys any more; [YECHEZKEL 27:27, 31]
12 “Cargo of gold and of silver and of precious stone and of pearls and of fine linen and of purple and of silk and of scarlet, and every kind of scented wood and every kind of ivory article and every kind of article of valuable wood and of bronze and of iron and of marble [YECHEZKEL 27:12-22]
13 “And cinnamon and spice and incense and myrrh and frankincense and yayin (wine) and oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and kevasim (sheep), and of susim (horses) and of chariots and of slaves and nefashot (souls) of men. [YECHEZKEL 27:13]
14 “And the p’ri (fruit) for which your nefesh longed has departed from you, and all the luxurious things and the splendorous things have become lost for you, and never again shall they be found!
15 “And the merchants of these things, the ones having become rich from her, will stand afar off because of the fear of her torment, and they will be weeping and wailing, [YECHEZKEL 27:31]
16 “Saying, ‘Oy, oy, the Ir Hagedolah, the one having clothed herself with fine linen and purple and scarlet and having been gilded with gold and precious stone and pearl,
17 ‘Because in one hour such great wealth, was laid waste.’ “And there stood afar off every steersman, and everyone sailing the sea, and sailors and all who commerce on the sea. [YECHEZKEL 27:28-30]
18 “And they were crying out, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What Ir (City) is like the Ir Hagedolah?’ [YECHEZKEL 27:32]
19 “And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and wailing, saying, ‘Oy, oy, the Ir Hagedolah, by which from her wealth, all the ones having ships in the sea became rich, because in one hour she was laid waste.’ [YEHOSHUA 7:6; EKHAH 2:10; YECHEZKEL 27:30,31]
20 "Have lev same’ach over her, O Shomayim! You Kadoshim and Shlichim and Nevi’im, for Hashem has given mishpat for you against her." [YIRMEYAH 51:48]
21 And a malach chazak (strong angel) lifted up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “Thus will Bavel the Ir Hagedolah be violently thrown down, and never would it be found any longer. [YIRMEYAH 51:63]
22 “And the sound of harpers, those playing the nevel (harp), and of musicians and of flutists and of trumpeters will be heard in you no more and every oman (artist) of every craft will be found in you no more, and the sound of a mill, would be heard in you no more. [YESHAYAH 24:8; YECHEZKEL 26:13; YIRMEYAH 25:10]
23 “And the ohr of a menorah would shine in you no more, and the kol (voice) of a choson (bridegroom) and of a kallah (bride) would be heard in you no more; because your merchants were the gedolim (the great) of ha’aretz (the earth), because by your kashefanut (sorcery) were all the Goyim deceived, [YIRMEYAH 7:34; 16:9; 25:10; YESHAYAH 23:8; NACHUM 3:4]
24 "And in her were found the dahm of Nevi’im (prophets) and of Kadoshim and of all the ones having been slain al Kiddush ha-Shem on ha’aretz." [YIRMEYAH 51:49]
