Condenación de la gran ramera
17 Vino entonces uno de los siete ángeles que tenían las siete copas, y habló conmigo diciéndome: Ven acá, y te mostraré la sentencia contra la gran ramera, la que está sentada sobre muchas aguas;(A) 2 con la cual han fornicado los reyes de la tierra, y los moradores de la tierra se han embriagado con el vino de su fornicación.(B) 3 Y me llevó en el Espíritu al desierto; y vi a una mujer sentada sobre una bestia escarlata llena de nombres de blasfemia, que tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos.(C) 4 Y la mujer estaba vestida de púrpura y escarlata, y adornada de oro, de piedras preciosas y de perlas, y tenía en la mano un cáliz de oro(D) lleno de abominaciones y de la inmundicia de su fornicación; 5 y en su frente un nombre escrito, un misterio: BABILONIA LA GRANDE, LA MADRE DE LAS RAMERAS Y DE LAS ABOMINACIONES DE LA TIERRA. 6 Vi a la mujer ebria de la sangre de los santos, y de la sangre de los mártires de Jesús; y cuando la vi, quedé asombrado con gran asombro.
7 Y el ángel me dijo: ¿Por qué te asombras? Yo te diré el misterio de la mujer, y de la bestia que la trae, la cual tiene las siete cabezas y los diez cuernos. 8 La bestia que has visto, era, y no es; y está para subir del abismo(E) e ir a perdición; y los moradores de la tierra, aquellos cuyos nombres no están escritos desde la fundación del mundo en el libro de la vida,(F) se asombrarán viendo la bestia que era y no es, y será. 9 Esto, para la mente que tenga sabiduría: Las siete cabezas son siete montes, sobre los cuales se sienta la mujer, 10 y son siete reyes. Cinco de ellos han caído; uno es, y el otro aún no ha venido; y cuando venga, es necesario que dure breve tiempo. 11 La bestia que era, y no es, es también el octavo; y es de entre los siete, y va a la perdición. 12 Y los diez cuernos que has visto, son diez reyes,(G) que aún no han recibido reino; pero por una hora recibirán autoridad como reyes juntamente con la bestia. 13 Estos tienen un mismo propósito, y entregarán su poder y su autoridad a la bestia. 14 Pelearán contra el Cordero, y el Cordero los vencerá, porque él es Señor de señores y Rey de reyes; y los que están con él son llamados y elegidos y fieles.
15 Me dijo también: Las aguas que has visto donde la ramera se sienta, son pueblos, muchedumbres, naciones y lenguas. 16 Y los diez cuernos que viste en la bestia, estos aborrecerán a la ramera, y la dejarán desolada y desnuda; y devorarán sus carnes, y la quemarán con fuego; 17 porque Dios ha puesto en sus corazones el ejecutar lo que él quiso: ponerse de acuerdo, y dar su reino a la bestia, hasta que se cumplan las palabras de Dios. 18 Y la mujer que has visto es la gran ciudad que reina sobre los reyes de la tierra.

17 E veio um dos sete anjos que tinham as sete taças e falou comigo, dizendo-me: Vem, mostrar-te-ei a condenação da grande prostituta que está assentada sobre muitas águas, 2 com a qual se prostituíram os reis da terra; e os que habitam na terra se embebedaram com o vinho da sua prostituição. 3 E levou-me em espírito a um deserto, e vi uma mulher assentada sobre uma besta de cor escarlate, que estava cheia de nomes de blasfêmia e tinha sete cabeças e dez chifres. 4 E a mulher estava vestida de púrpura e de escarlata, adornada com ouro, e pedras preciosas, e pérolas, e tinha na mão um cálice de ouro cheio das abominações e da imundícia da sua prostituição. 5 E, na sua testa, estava escrito o nome: Mistério, a Grande Babilônia, a Mãe das Prostituições e Abominações da Terra. 6 E vi que a mulher estava embriagada do sangue dos santos e do sangue das testemunhas de Jesus. E, vendo-a eu, maravilhei-me com grande admiração. 7 E o anjo me disse: Por que te admiras? Eu te direi o mistério da mulher e da besta que a traz, a qual tem sete cabeças e dez chifres. 8 A besta que viste foi e já não é, e há de subir do abismo, e irá à perdição. E os que habitam na terra (cujos nomes não estão escritos no livro da vida, desde a fundação do mundo) se admirarão vendo a besta que era e já não é, mas que virá. 9 Aqui há sentido, que tem sabedoria. As sete cabeças são sete montes, sobre os quais a mulher está assentada. 10 E são também sete reis: cinco já caíram, e um existe; outro ainda não é vindo; e, quando vier, convém que dure um pouco de tempo. 11 E a besta, que era e já não é, é ela também o oitavo, e é dos sete, e vai à perdição. 12 E os dez chifres que viste são dez reis, que ainda não receberam o reino, mas receberão o poder como reis por uma hora, juntamente com a besta. 13 Estes têm um mesmo intento e entregarão o seu poder e autoridade à besta. 14 Estes combaterão contra o Cordeiro, e o Cordeiro os vencerá, porque é o Senhor dos senhores e o Rei dos reis; vencerão os que estão com ele, chamados, eleitos e fiéis. 15 E disse-me: As águas que viste, onde se assenta a prostituta, são povos, e multidões, e nações, e línguas. 16 E os dez chifres que viste na besta são os que aborrecerão a prostituta, e a porão desolada e nua, e comerão a sua carne, e a queimarão no fogo. 17 Porque Deus tem posto em seu coração que cumpram o seu intento, e tenham uma mesma ideia, e que deem à besta o seu reino, até que se cumpram as palavras de Deus. 18 E a mulher que viste é a grande cidade que reina sobre os reis da terra.

17 Then (A)one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying [a]to me, “Come, (B)I will show you the judgment of (C)the great harlot (D)who sits on many waters, 2 (E)with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and (F)the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”
3 So he carried me away in the Spirit (G)into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting (H)on a scarlet beast which was full of (I)names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman (J)was arrayed in purple and scarlet, (K)and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, (L)having in her hand a golden cup (M)full of abominations and the filthiness of [b]her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
(N)MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS
OF THE EARTH.
6 I saw (O)the woman, drunk (P)with the blood of the saints and with the blood of (Q)the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
The Meaning of the Woman and the Beast
7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the [c]mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and (R)will ascend out of the bottomless pit and (S)go to [d]perdition. And those who (T)dwell on the earth (U)will marvel, (V)whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and [e]yet is.
9 (W)“Here is the mind which has wisdom: (X)The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must (Y)continue a short time. 11 The (Z)beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to [f]perdition.
12 (AA)“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 (AB)These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will (AC)overcome them, (AD)for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; (AE)and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
15 Then he said to me, (AF)“The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, (AG)are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you [g]saw on the beast, (AH)these will hate the harlot, make her (AI)desolate (AJ)and naked, eat her flesh and (AK)burn her with fire. 17 (AL)For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, (AM)until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw (AN)is that great city (AO)which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
