Los dos testigos y la bestia
11 Recibí después una vara de medir semejante a un bastón, y me ordenaron:
— Ve, toma las medidas del Templo de Dios y de su altar y cuenta el número de sus adoradores. 2 Pero no midas el patio exterior; déjalo aparte, porque ha sido entregado como botín a las naciones, que hollarán la ciudad santa durante cuarenta y dos meses. 3 Será entonces cuando yo envíe a mis dos testigos, para que, austeramente vestidos, proclamen el mensaje profético de Dios durante mil doscientos sesenta días. 4 Me refiero a los dos olivos y a los dos candeleros que se mantienen firmes en presencia del Señor de la tierra. 5 ¡Que nadie intente hacerles daño, pues de su boca sale fuego que devora a sus enemigos; irremisiblemente debe perecer quien intente hacerles daño! 6 Tienen poder para cerrar el cielo e impedir que llueva mientras proclaman su mensaje profético; pueden convertir el agua en sangre; pueden herir la tierra cuantas veces quieran con toda clase de calamidades. 7 Pero, una vez concluido su testimonio, surgirá del abismo la bestia, que entrará en combate contra ellos, los derrotará y los matará. 8 Sus cadáveres estarán expuestos al público en la plaza de la gran ciudad a la que se da el nombre simbólico de Sodoma y Egipto, y en la que fue también crucificado su Señor. 9 Tres días y medio estarán expuestos los cadáveres a la vista de gentes de todo pueblo, raza, lengua y nación, sin que nadie pueda darles sepultura. 10 Mientras tanto, se desbordará el júbilo y la alegría de los habitantes de la tierra por su muerte. Hasta se harán regalos unos a otros, ya que aquellos dos profetas les habían amargado la existencia. 11 Pero al cabo de los tres días y medio, Dios los hizo revivir y los puso de nuevo en pie, para asombro y terror de quienes los contemplaban.
12 Oí entonces una fuerte voz que les decía desde el cielo:
— Suban aquí.
Y subieron al cielo en una nube, a la vista de sus enemigos. 13 En ese momento se desencadenó un formidable terremoto: la décima parte de la ciudad se derrumbó, y siete mil personas perecieron víctimas del terremoto. Los supervivientes, sobrecogidos de espanto, alabaron al Dios del cielo.
14 Atrás ha quedado la segunda calamidad, pero la tercera está a las puertas.
La séptima trompeta
15 El séptimo ángel tocó la trompeta, y se oyeron en el cielo voces poderosas que proclamaban:
— A nuestro Señor y a su Cristo pertenece el dominio del mundo, y lo ejercerá por siempre y para siempre.
16 Se postraron entonces rostro en tierra los veinticuatro ancianos que están sentados en sus tronos ante Dios, y adoraron a Dios, 17 diciendo:
— Gracias, Señor Dios, dueño de todo,
tú que existes desde siempre,
porque con tu inmenso poder
has establecido tu reinado.
18 Gracias, porque tu ira se ha hecho presente
destrozando el furor de las naciones
y porque ha sonado la hora del juicio,
la hora de premiar a tus siervos los profetas,
a los santos y a cuantos veneran tu nombre,
sean humildes o poderosos,
la hora de exterminar a los que corrompen la tierra.
19 En aquel instante se abrió el Templo de Dios que está en el cielo y dentro de él apareció el Arca de su alianza en medio de relámpagos, truenos fragorosos, temblores de tierra y un recio granizar.

11 Me dieron una vara de medir, parecida a una caña, y me dijeron: «Levántate y toma las medidas del templo de Dios y del altar, y cuenta los que adoran allí. 2 Pero no midas el atrio exterior del templo, porque ha sido entregado a los paganos, los cuales van a pisotear la ciudad santa durante cuarenta y dos meses. 3 Y yo enviaré dos testigos, vestidos con ropas ásperas, a comunicar mensajes proféticos durante mil doscientos sesenta días.»
4 Estos dos testigos son los dos olivos y los dos candelabros que están delante del Señor de la tierra. 5 Si alguien intenta hacerles daño, ellos echan fuego por la boca, que quema por completo a sus enemigos; así morirá cualquiera que quiera hacerles daño. 6 Estos testigos tienen poder para cerrar el cielo, para que no llueva durante el tiempo en que estén comunicando su mensaje profético, y también tienen poder para cambiar el agua en sangre y para hacer sufrir a la tierra con toda clase de calamidades, tantas veces como ellos quieran.
7 Pero cuando hayan terminado de dar su testimonio, el monstruo que sube del abismo los atacará, los vencerá y los matará. 8 Sus cadáveres quedarán tendidos en las calles de la gran ciudad donde fue crucificado su Señor, la cual en lenguaje figurado se llama Sodoma, y también Egipto. 9 Y por tres días y medio, gente de distintos pueblos, razas, lenguas y naciones verá sus cadáveres y no dejará que los entierren. 10 Los que viven en la tierra se alegrarán de su muerte. Estarán tan contentos que se harán regalos unos a otros, porque aquellos dos profetas eran un tormento para ellos.
11 Pero al cabo de los tres días y medio, Dios los revivió y se levantaron otra vez, y todos los que los vieron se llenaron de miedo. 12 Entonces los dos testigos oyeron una fuerte voz del cielo, que les decía: «¡Suban acá!» Y subieron al cielo en una nube, y sus enemigos los vieron. 13 En aquel mismo momento hubo un gran terremoto, y a causa del terremoto se derrumbó la décima parte de la ciudad, y siete mil personas murieron. Los que aún quedaron con vida, llenos de miedo alabaron a Dios, que está en el cielo.
14 Pasó el segundo desastre, pero pronto viene el tercero.
La séptima trompeta
15 El séptimo ángel tocó su trompeta, y se oyeron fuertes voces en el cielo, que decían:
«El reino del mundo
es ya de nuestro Señor y de su Mesías,
y reinarán por todos los siglos.»
16 Los veinticuatro ancianos que estaban sentados en sus tronos delante de Dios, se inclinaron hasta el suelo y adoraron a Dios, 17 diciendo:
«Te damos gracias, Señor, Dios todopoderoso,
tú que eres y que eras,
porque has tomado tu gran poder
y has comenzado a reinar.
18 Las naciones se han enfurecido;
pero ha llegado el día de tu ira,
el momento en que has de juzgar a los muertos;
y darás la recompensa a tus siervos los profetas,
a tu pueblo santo
y a los que honran tu nombre,
sean grandes o pequeños;
y destruirás a los que destruyen la tierra.»
Visión preparatoria
19 Entonces se abrió el templo de Dios que está en el cielo, y en el templo se veía el arca de su alianza. Y hubo relámpagos, voces, truenos, un terremoto y una gran granizada.

The Two Witnesses
11 I was given a reed like a measuring rod(A) and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. 2 But exclude the outer court;(B) do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles.(C) They will trample on the holy city(D) for 42 months.(E) 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses,(F) and they will prophesy for 1,260 days,(G) clothed in sackcloth.”(H) 4 They are “the two olive trees”(I) and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.”[a](J) 5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies.(K) This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.(L) 6 They have power to shut up the heavens(M) so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying;(N) and they have power to turn the waters into blood(O) and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.
7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast(P) that comes up from the Abyss(Q) will attack them,(R) and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city(S)—which is figuratively called Sodom(T) and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified.(U) 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation(V) will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial.(W) 10 The inhabitants of the earth(X) will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts,(Y) because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
11 But after the three and a half days(Z) the breath[b] of life from God entered them,(AA) and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.”(AB) And they went up to heaven in a cloud,(AC) while their enemies looked on.
13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake(AD) and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory(AE) to the God of heaven.(AF)
14 The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.(AG)
The Seventh Trumpet
15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet,(AH) and there were loud voices(AI) in heaven, which said:
“The kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah,(AJ)
and he will reign for ever and ever.”(AK)
16 And the twenty-four elders,(AL) who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces(AM) and worshiped God, 17 saying:
“We give thanks(AN) to you, Lord God Almighty,(AO)
the One who is and who was,(AP)
because you have taken your great power
and have begun to reign.(AQ)
18 The nations were angry,(AR)
and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,(AS)
and for rewarding your servants the prophets(AT)
and your people who revere your name,
both great and small(AU)—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”
19 Then God’s temple(AV) in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.(AW) And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder,(AX) an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.(AY)

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
