La caída de Babilonia
18 Después de esto vi a otro ángel(A) descender del cielo(B), que tenía gran poder, y la tierra fue iluminada con su gloria(C). 2 Y gritó con potente voz: «¡Cayó, cayó la gran Babilonia(D)! Se ha convertido en habitación de demonios(E), en guarida[a] de todo espíritu inmundo(F) y en guarida[b] de toda ave inmunda y aborrecible. 3 Porque todas las naciones han bebido del[c] vino de la pasión[d] de su inmoralidad(G), y los reyes de la tierra(H) han cometido actos inmorales con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra(I) se han enriquecido con la riqueza[e] de su sensualidad[f](J)».
4 Y oí otra voz del cielo que decía: «Salgan de ella, pueblo mío(K), para que no participen de sus pecados y para que no reciban de sus plagas. 5 Porque sus pecados se han amontonado[g] hasta el cielo(L), y Dios se ha acordado de sus iniquidades(M). 6 Páguenle tal como ella ha pagado(N), y devuélvanle[h] doble según sus obras. En la copa que ella ha preparado(O), preparen[i] el doble para ella. 7 Cuanto ella se glorificó a sí misma(P) y vivió sensualmente[j](Q), así[k] denle tormento y duelo[l], porque dice en su corazón: “Yo estoy sentada como reina(R), y no soy viuda y nunca veré duelo[m]”.
8 »Por eso, en un solo día(S), vendrán sus plagas: muerte, duelo[n], y hambre, y será quemada con fuego(T); porque el Señor Dios que la juzga es poderoso[o](U). 9 Y los reyes de la tierra(V) que cometieron actos de inmoralidad y vivieron sensualmente[p](W) con ella, llorarán y se lamentarán(X) por ella cuando vean el humo de su incendio(Y). 10 Y de pie, desde lejos(Z) por causa del temor de su tormento, dirán: “¡Ay, ay(AA), la gran ciudad, Babilonia(AB), la ciudad fuerte! Porque en una hora(AC) ha llegado tu juicio”.
11 »Los mercaderes de la tierra(AD) lloran y se lamentan(AE) por ella, porque ya nadie compra sus mercaderías[q]: 12 cargamentos de oro, plata, piedras preciosas[r], perlas, lino fino, púrpura, seda y escarlata(AF); toda clase de maderas olorosas[s] y todo objeto de marfil y todo objeto hecho de maderas preciosas, bronce, hierro, y mármol; 13 y canela, especias aromáticas[t], incienso, perfume, mirra, vino, aceite de oliva; y flor de harina, trigo, bestias, ovejas, caballos, carros, esclavos[u], y vidas humanas[v][w](AG). 14 Y el fruto que tanto has anhelado[x] se ha apartado de ti, y todas las cosas que eran lujosas y espléndidas se han alejado[y] de ti, y nunca más las hallarán. 15 Los mercaderes(AH) de estas cosas(AI) que se enriquecieron a costa de ella, se pararán lejos(AJ) a causa del temor de su tormento, llorando y lamentándose, 16 y diciendo: “¡Ay, ay(AK), la gran ciudad(AL), que estaba vestida de lino fino, púrpura y escarlata(AM), y adornada de oro, piedras preciosas y perlas[z]! 17 En una hora(AN) ha sido arrasada(AO) tanta riqueza”. Todos los capitanes, pasajeros[aa], y marineros, y todos los que viven del mar(AP), se pararon a lo lejos(AQ), 18 y al ver el humo de su incendio(AR) gritaban(AS): “¿Qué ciudad es semejante(AT) a la gran ciudad(AU)?”. 19 Y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas(AV), y llorando y lamentándose, gritaban: “¡Ay, ay(AW), la gran ciudad en la cual todos los que tenían naves en el mar se enriquecieron a costa de sus riquezas(AX)!, porque en una hora(AY) ha sido asolada(AZ)”.
20 »Regocíjate sobre ella(BA), cielo, y también ustedes, santos, apóstoles y profetas(BB), porque Dios ha pronunciado juicio(BC) contra ella[ab] por ustedes».
21 Entonces un ángel poderoso[ac](BD) tomó una piedra, como una gran piedra de molino(BE), y la arrojó al mar, diciendo: «Así será derribada con violencia Babilonia, la gran ciudad(BF), y nunca más será hallada(BG). 22 El sonido de arpistas, de músicos, de flautistas, y de trompeteros(BH) no se oirá más en ti. Ningún artífice de oficio alguno se hallará más en ti. Ningún ruido de molino(BI) se oirá más en ti. 23 Ninguna luz de la lámpara alumbrará más en ti. Tampoco la voz del novio[ad] y de la novia[ae](BJ) se oirá más en ti, porque tus mercaderes(BK) eran los grandes de la tierra, pues todas las naciones fueron engañadas por tus hechicerías(BL).
24 »Y en ella fue hallada la sangre de los profetas, de los santos(BM) y de todos los que habían sido muertos sobre la tierra(BN)».

Babylon Is Fallen
18 After these things I saw another (A)angel (B)coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was (C)illuminated from his glory. 2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “[a](D)Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She (E)has become a dwelling place of demons and a [b]prison of every (F)unclean spirit, and a [c]prison of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all the nations have fallen because of the (G)wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and (H)the kings of the earth have committed acts of sexual immorality with her, and the (I)merchants of the earth have become rich from the [d]excessive wealth of her [e](J)luxury.”
4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “(K)Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins have [f](L)piled up as high as heaven, and God has (M)remembered her offenses. 6 (N)Pay her back even as she has paid, and [g]give back to her double according to her deeds; in the (O)cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. 7 (P)To the extent that she glorified herself and (Q)lived luxuriously, to the same extent give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘(R)I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’ 8 For this reason (S)in one day her plagues will come, [h]plague and mourning and famine, and she will be (T)burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her (U)is strong.
Grief over Babylon
9 “And (V)the kings of the earth, who committed acts of sexual immorality and (W)lived luxuriously with her, will (X)weep and mourn over her when they (Y)see the smoke of her burning, 10 (Z)standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘(AA)Woe, woe, (AB)the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in (AC)one hour your judgment has come.’
11 “And the (AD)merchants of the earth (AE)weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargo any more— 12 cargo of (AF)gold, silver, precious [i]stones, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet; every kind of citron wood, every article of ivory, and every article made from very valuable wood, [j]bronze, iron, and marble; 13 cinnamon, [k]spice, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, and cargo of horses, carriages, [l]slaves, and (AG)human lives. 14 The fruit [m]you long for has left you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and people will no longer find them. 15 The (AH)merchants of (AI)these things, who became rich from her, will (AJ)stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16 saying, ‘(AK)Woe, woe, (AL)the great city, she who (AM)was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and [n]adorned with gold, precious [o]stones, and pearls; 17 for in (AN)one hour such great wealth has been laid (AO)waste!’ And (AP)every shipmaster and every [p]passenger and sailor, and all who [q]make their living by the sea, (AQ)stood at a distance, 18 and were (AR)crying out as they (AS)saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘(AT)What city is like (AU)the great city?’ 19 And they threw (AV)dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘(AW)Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea (AX)became rich from her prosperity, for in (AY)one hour she has been laid (AZ)waste!’ 20 (BA)Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you [r]saints and (BB)apostles and prophets, because (BC)God has [s]pronounced judgment for you against her.”
21 Then [t]a (BD)strong angel (BE)picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, (BF)the great city, be thrown down with violence, and (BG)will never be found again. 22 And (BH)the sound of harpists, musicians, flute players, and trumpeters will never be heard in you again; and no craftsman of any craft will ever be found in you again; and the (BI)sound of a mill will never be heard in you again; 23 and the light of a lamp will never shine in you again; and the (BJ)voice of the groom and bride will never be heard in you again; for your (BK)merchants were the powerful people of the earth, because all the nations were deceived (BL)by your witchcraft. 24 And in her was found the (BM)blood of prophets and of [u]saints, and of (BN)all who have been slaughtered on the earth.”
