9 Îngerul al cincilea a sunat din trâmbiţă. Şi(A) am văzut o stea care căzuse din cer pe pământ. I s-a dat cheia fântânii(B) Adâncului 2 şi a deschis fântâna Adâncului. Din fântână s-a(C) ridicat un fum, ca fumul unui cuptor mare. Şi soarele şi văzduhul s-au întunecat de fumul fântânii. 3 Din fum au ieşit nişte lăcuste(D) pe pământ. Şi li s-a dat o putere, ca(E) puterea pe care o au scorpiile pământului. 4 Li s-a zis să(F) nu vatăme iarba(G) pământului, nici vreo verdeaţă, nici vreun copac, ci numai pe oamenii care n-aveau pe frunte pecetea(H) lui Dumnezeu. 5 Li s-a dat putere nu să-i omoare, ci(I) să-i chinuiască cinci luni; şi chinul lor era cum e chinul scorpiei, când înţeapă pe un om. 6 În acele zile, oamenii vor căuta(J) moartea şi n-o vor găsi; vor dori să moară şi moartea va fugi de ei. 7 Lăcustele acelea semănau(K) cu nişte cai pregătiţi de luptă. Pe(L) capete aveau un fel de cununi, care păreau de aur. Feţele(M) lor semănau cu nişte feţe de oameni. 8 Aveau părul ca părul de femeie şi dinţii(N) lor erau ca dinţii de lei. 9 Aveau nişte platoşe ca nişte platoşe de fier; şi vuietul pe care-l făceau aripile lor era ca(O) vuietul unor care trase de mulţi cai, care se aruncă la luptă. 10 Aveau(P) nişte cozi ca de scorpii, cu bolduri. Şi în cozile lor stătea puterea pe care o aveau ca să vatăme pe oameni cinci luni. 11 Peste ele aveau ca împărat(Q) pe îngerul(R) Adâncului, care pe evreieşte se cheamă „Abadon”, iar pe greceşte, „Apolion”. 12 Cea dintâi(S) nenorocire a trecut. Iată că mai vin încă două nenorociri după ea. 13 Îngerul al şaselea a sunat din trâmbiţă. Şi am auzit un glas din cele patru coarne ale altarului de aur care este înaintea lui Dumnezeu 14 şi zicând îngerului al şaselea, care avea trâmbiţa: „Dezleagă pe cei patru îngeri, care sunt legaţi la(T) râul cel mare Eufrat!” 15 Şi cei patru îngeri care stăteau gata pentru ceasul, ziua, luna şi anul acela au fost dezlegaţi, ca să omoare a treia parte din oameni. 16 Oştirea(U) lor era în număr de douăzeci de mii de ori zece mii de călăreţi(V); le-am(W) auzit numărul. 17 Şi iată cum mi s-au arătat în vedenie caii şi călăreţii: aveau platoşe ca focul, iacintul şi pucioasa. Capetele(X) cailor erau ca nişte capete de lei şi din gurile lor ieşeau foc, fum şi pucioasă. 18 A treia parte din oameni au fost ucişi de aceste trei urgii: de focul, de fumul şi de pucioasa care ieşeau din gurile lor. 19 Căci puterea cailor stătea în gurile şi în cozile lor. Cozile(Y) lor erau ca nişte şerpi cu capete şi cu ele vătămau. 20 Ceilalţi oameni, care n-au fost ucişi de aceste urgii, nu(Z) s-au pocăit de faptele mâinilor lor, ca să nu se închine dracilor(AA) şi idolilor(AB) de aur, de argint, de aramă, de piatră şi de lemn, care nu pot nici să vadă, nici să audă, nici să umble. 21 Şi nu s-au pocăit de uciderile lor, nici de vrăjitoriile(AC) lor, nici de curvia lor, nici de furtişagurile lor.

9 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. The star was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2 He opened the bottomless pit, and smoke ascended from the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace. The sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. Power was given them as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were given authority, not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man. 6 In those days men will seek death but will not find it. They will desire to die, but death will elude them.
7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were something like crowns of gold, and their faces were like faces of men. 8 They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running to battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions and stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men for five months. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek his name is Apollyon.[a]
12 The first woe is past. Now, two more woes are yet to come.
13 The sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great Euphrates River.” 15 And the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The army of horsemen numbered two hundred million. I heard their number.
17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision: Those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire and smoke and brimstone. 18 A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues—by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, with heads by which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not cease to worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which cannot see nor hear nor walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders or their magical arts or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.(O) On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.(P) 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.(Q) 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.(R) 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.(S) 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss,(T) whose name in Hebrew(U) is Abaddon(V) and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

I heard their number.(AE)
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent(AK) of the work of their hands;(AL) they did not stop worshiping demons,(AM) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.(AN) 21 Nor did they repent(AO) of their murders, their magic arts,(AP) their sexual immorality(AQ) or their thefts.

9 El quinto ángel tocó su trompeta y vi que había caído del cielo a la tierra una estrella, a la cual se le entregó la llave del pozo del abismo. 2 Lo abrió y del pozo subió una humareda, como la de un horno gigantesco que oscureció el sol y el aire. 3 De la humareda descendieron langostas sobre la tierra y se les dio poder como el que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra. 4 Se les ordenó que no dañaran la hierba de la tierra, ni ninguna planta ni ningún árbol, sino solo a las personas que no llevaran en la frente el sello de Dios. 5 No se les dio permiso para matarlas, sino solo para atormentarlas durante cinco meses. Su tormento es como el producido por la picadura de un escorpión. 6 En aquellos días la gente buscará la muerte, pero no la encontrará; desearán morir, pero la muerte huirá de ellos.
7 El aspecto de las langostas era como de caballos equipados para la guerra. Llevaban en la cabeza algo que parecía una corona de oro y su cara se asemejaba a un rostro humano. 8 Su crin parecía cabello de mujer y sus dientes eran como de león. 9 Llevaban coraza como de hierro y el ruido de sus alas se escuchaba como el estruendo de carros de muchos caballos que se lanzan a la batalla. 10 Tenían cola y aguijón como de escorpión. En la cola tenían poder para herir a la gente durante cinco meses. 11 El rey que los dirigía era el ángel del abismo, que en hebreo se llama Abadón y en griego Apolión.[a]
12 El primer ¡ay! ya pasó, pero vienen todavía otros dos.
13 El sexto ángel tocó su trompeta y oí una voz que salía de entre los cuernos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios. 14 A este ángel que tenía la trompeta, la voz le dijo: «Suelta a los cuatro ángeles que están atados a la orilla del gran río Éufrates». 15 Así que los cuatro ángeles que habían sido preparados precisamente para esa hora y ese día, mes y año, quedaron sueltos para matar a la tercera parte de la humanidad. 16 Oí que el número de las tropas de caballería llegaba a doscientos millones.
17 Así vi en la visión a los caballos y a sus jinetes: tenían coraza de color rojo encendido, púrpura y amarillo como azufre. La cabeza de los caballos era como de león y por la boca echaban fuego, humo y azufre. 18 La tercera parte de la humanidad murió a causa de las tres plagas de fuego, humo y azufre que salían de la boca de los caballos. 19 Es que el poder de los caballos radicaba en su boca y en su cola; pues sus colas, semejantes a serpientes, tenían cabezas con las que hacían daño.
20 El resto de la humanidad, los que no murieron a causa de estas plagas, tampoco se arrepintieron de sus malas acciones ni dejaron de adorar a los demonios y a los ídolos de oro, plata, bronce, piedra y madera, los cuales no pueden ver ni oír ni caminar. 21 Tampoco se arrepintieron de sus asesinatos ni de sus artes mágicas, inmoralidad sexual y robos.
