The Basket of Fruit
8 Thus the Lord God showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.[a] 2 And he said, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.”[b] Then the Lord said to me,
“The end[c] has come upon my people Israel;
I will never again pass by them.
3 The songs of the temple[d] shall become wailings in that day,”
says the Lord God;
“the dead bodies shall be many;
in every place they shall be cast out in silence.”[e]

8 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, a basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said Jehovah unto me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more. 3 And the songs of the [a]temple shall be wailings in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah: the dead bodies shall be many; in every place [b]shall they cast them forth with silence.
