⁷ What then? ^(A)Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest ^(B)were hardened, ⁸ as it is written,

⁹ And David says,

⁶ For among them are ^(A)those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, ⁷ always learning and never able to ^(B)arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

^23 (A)Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. ²⁴ For ^(B)false christs and ^(C)false prophets will arise and ^(D)perform great signs and wonders, ^(E)so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ See, ^(F)I have told you beforehand. ²⁶ So, if they say to you, ‘Look, ^(G)he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.

^30 (A)Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

⁴ But you, Daniel, ^(A)shut up the words and ^(B)seal the book, until ^(C)the time of the end. ^(D)Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

³¹ but that Israel ^(A)who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness^{[a] (B)}did not succeed in reaching that law. ³² Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the ^(C)stumbling stone, ³³ as it is written,

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

^25 (A)At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, ^(B)Lord of heaven and earth, that ^(C)you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and ^(D)revealed them to little children; ²⁶ yes, Father, for such was your ^(E)gracious will.^{[a] 27 (F)}All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son ^(G)except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone ^(H)to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
