^9 (A)The ^[a]high places of Isaac shall be desolate,
And the ^[b]sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste.
^(B)I will rise with the sword against the house of Jeroboam.”

¹⁴ Those who ^(A)swear by ^(B)the ^[a]sin of Samaria,
Who say,
‘As your god lives, O Dan!’
And, ‘As the way of ^(C)Beersheba lives!’
They shall fall and never rise again.”

⁵ But do not seek ^(A)Bethel,
Nor enter Gilgal,
Nor pass over to ^(B)Beersheba;
For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity,
And ^(C)Bethel shall come to nothing.

¹⁴ “That in the day I punish Israel for their transgressions,
I will also visit destruction on the altars of ^(A)Bethel;
And the horns of the altar shall be cut off
And fall to the ground.

⁸ Also the ^(A)high places of ^[a]Aven, ^(B)the sin of Israel,
Shall be destroyed.
The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars;
^(C)They shall say to the mountains, “Cover us!”
And to the hills, “Fall on us!”

^18 (A)Your holy people have possessed it but a little while;
^(B)Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.
