¹² Then Amaziah said to Amos:

^14 (A)But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

³⁴ And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, ^(A)they begged Him to depart from their region.

⁹ (Formerly in Israel, when a man ^(A)went ^[a]to inquire of God, he spoke thus: “Come, let us go to the seer”; for he who is now called a prophet was formerly called ^(B)a seer.)

^2 (A)Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, ^(B)not by compulsion but ^[a]willingly, ^(C)not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

¹⁸ For those who are such do not serve our Lord ^[a]Jesus Christ, but ^(A)their own belly, and ^(B)by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

³⁹ Then they came and pleaded with them and brought them out, and ^(A)asked them to depart from the city.

^31 [a]On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”

^37 (A)Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the ^[a]Gadarenes ^(B)asked Him to ^(C)depart from them, for they were seized with great ^(D)fear. And He got into the boat and returned.

³⁸ Now ^(E)the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,
