Amos 6:10-12
Christian Standard Bible
10 A close relative[a] and burner[b](A) will remove his corpse[c] from the house. He will call to someone in the inner recesses of the house, “Any more with you?”
That person will reply, “None.”
Then he will say, “Silence, because the Lord’s name must not be invoked.”(B)
11 For the Lord commands:
The large house will be smashed to pieces,
and the small house to rubble.(C)
12 Do horses gallop on the cliffs?
Does anyone plow there with oxen?[d]
Yet you have turned justice into poison(D)
and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood(E)—
Amos 6:10-12
New International Version
10 And if the relative who comes to carry the bodies out of the house to burn them[a](A) asks anyone who might be hiding there, “Is anyone else with you?” and he says, “No,” then he will go on to say, “Hush!(B) We must not mention the name of the Lord.”
Amos 6:10-12
New King James Version
10 And when [a]a relative of the dead, with one who will burn the bodies, picks up the [b]bodies to take them out of the house, he will say to one inside the house, “Are there any more with you?”
Then someone will say, “None.”
And he will say, (A)“Hold your tongue! (B)For we dare not mention the name of the Lord.”
11 For behold, (C)the Lord gives a command:
(D)He will break the great house into bits,
And the little house into pieces.
12 Do horses run on rocks?
Does one plow there with oxen?
Yet (E)you have turned justice into gall,
And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,
