²⁴ But let justice roll down like waters,
    and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

⁸ He has told you, O man, what is good;
    and ^(A)what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,^[a]
    and to ^(B)walk humbly with your God?

⁶ For ^(A)I desire steadfast love^[a] and not sacrifice,
    ^(B)the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

^3 (A)To do righteousness and justice
    is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

⁷ O ^(A)you who turn justice to wormwood^[a]
    and cast down righteousness to the earth!

¹² because I ^(A)delivered the poor who cried for help,
    and the fatherless who had none to help him.
^13 (B)The blessing of him who was ^(C)about to perish came upon me,
    and I caused ^(D)the widow's heart to sing for joy.
¹⁴ I ^(E)put on righteousness, and it clothed me;
    my justice was like a robe and ^(F)a turban.
¹⁵ I was ^(G)eyes to the blind
    and feet to the lame.
¹⁶ I was a father to the needy,
    and I searched out ^(H)the cause of him whom I did not know.
¹⁷ I ^(I)broke ^(J)the fangs of the unrighteous
    and made him drop his prey from his teeth.
