4 “Pakinggan ninyo ang salitang ito, O mga baka ng Basan,
na nasa bundok ng Samaria,
na umaapi sa mga dukha,
na dumudurog sa mga nangangailangan,
na nagsasabi sa kanilang mga asawang lalaki, ‘Dalhin ninyo ngayon, upang kami'y makainom!’
2 Ang Panginoong Diyos ay sumumpa sa pamamagitan ng kanyang kabanalan:
Ang mga araw ay tiyak na darating sa inyo,
na kanilang tatangayin kayo sa pamamagitan ng mga bingwit,
pati ang kahuli-hulihan sa inyo sa pamamagitan ng mga pamingwit.
3 At kayo'y lalabas sa mga butas,
na bawat isa'y tuluy-tuloy sa harapan niya.
at kayo'y itatapon sa Harmon,” sabi ng Panginoon.
Ang Pagmamatigas ng Israel
4 “Pumunta kayo sa Bethel, at sumuway kayo;
sa Gilgal, at paramihin ninyo ang pagsuway,
dalhin ninyo ang inyong mga handog tuwing umaga,
at ang inyong mga ikasampung bahagi tuwing ikatlong araw;
5 kayo'y maghandog ng alay ng pasasalamat na may pampaalsa,
at kayo'y maghayag ng mga kusang handog at inyong ipamalita ang mga iyon,
sapagkat gayon ang nais ninyong gawin,
O bayan ng Israel!” sabi ng Panginoong Diyos.
6 “At binigyan ko naman kayo ng kalinisan ng mga ngipin sa lahat ninyong mga lunsod,
at kakulangan ng tinapay sa lahat ninyong mga dako;
gayunma'y hindi kayo nanumbalik sa akin,” sabi ng Panginoon.
7 “At pinigil ko rin ang ulan sa inyo,
nang tatlong buwan na lamang at pag-aani na;
ako'y nagpaulan sa isang bayan, at hindi ko pinaulan sa kabilang bayan:
ang isang bukid ay inulanan, at ang bukid na hindi inulanan ay natuyo.
8 Sa gayo'y dalawa o tatlong bayan ang gumala sa isang bayan
upang uminom ng tubig, at hindi napawi ang uhaw;
gayunma'y hindi kayo nanumbalik sa akin,” sabi ng Panginoon.
9 “Aking sinalot kayo ng pagkalanta at ng amag.
Sinira ko ang inyong mga halamanan at ang inyong mga ubasan;
ang inyong mga puno ng igos at mga puno ng olibo ay nilamon ng balang;
gayunma'y hindi kayo nanumbalik sa akin,” sabi ng Panginoon.
10 “Aking pinarating sa gitna ninyo ang salot na gaya ng sa Ehipto;
ang inyong mga binata ay pinatay ko ng tabak,
kasama ang inyong mga kabayong nabihag;
at aking pinaalingasaw ang baho ng inyong kampo hanggang sa mga butas ng inyong ilong;
gayunma'y hindi kayo nanumbalik sa akin,” sabi ng Panginoon.
11 “Ibinuwal(A) ko kayo
gaya nang ibinuwal ng Diyos ang Sodoma at Gomorra,
at kayo'y naging gaya ng nagniningas na kahoy na inagaw sa apoy;
gayunma'y hindi kayo nanumbalik sa akin,” sabi ng Panginoon.
12 “Kaya't ganito ang gagawin ko sa iyo, O Israel;
sapagkat aking gagawin ito sa iyo,
humanda ka sa pagsalubong sa iyong Diyos, O Israel!”
13 Sapagkat, narito, siyang nag-aanyo ng mga bundok, at lumilikha ng hangin,
at nagpapahayag sa tao kung ano ang kanyang iniisip;
na nagpapadilim ng umaga,
at yumayapak sa matataas na dako ng lupa—
ang Panginoon, ang Diyos ng mga hukbo, ang kanyang pangalan!

God’s Punishments Have Not Reformed Israel
4 Hear this word, you (A)cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria,
Who oppress the (B)poor,
Who crush the needy,
Who say to [a]your husbands, “Bring wine, let us (C)drink!”
2 (D)The Lord God has sworn by His holiness:
“Behold, the days shall come upon you
When He will take you away (E)with fishhooks,
And your posterity with fishhooks.
3 (F)You will go out through broken walls,
Each one straight ahead of her,
And you will [b]be cast into Harmon,”
Says the Lord.
4 “Come(G) to Bethel and transgress,
At (H)Gilgal multiply transgression;
(I)Bring your sacrifices every morning,
(J)Your tithes every three [c]days.
5 (K)Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven,
Proclaim and announce (L)the freewill offerings;
For this you love,
You children of Israel!”
Says the Lord God.
Israel Did Not Accept Correction
6 “Also I gave you [d]cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
And lack of bread in all your places;
(M)Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.
7 “I also withheld rain from you,
When there were still three months to the harvest.
I made it rain on one city,
I withheld rain from another city.
One part was rained upon,
And where it did not rain the part withered.
8 So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water,
But they were not satisfied;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.
9 “I(N) blasted you with blight and mildew.
When your gardens increased,
Your vineyards,
Your fig trees,
And your olive trees,
(O)The locust devoured them;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.
10 “I sent among you a plague (P)after the manner of Egypt;
Your young men I killed with a sword,
Along with your captive horses;
I made the stench of your camps come up into your nostrils;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.
11 “I overthrew some of you,
As God overthrew (Q)Sodom and Gomorrah,
And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”
Says the Lord.
12 “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel;
Because I will do this to you,
(R)Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

4 Oíd esta palabra, vacas de Basán(A), que estáis en el monte de Samaria(B),
las que oprimís a los pobres, quebrantáis a los menesterosos(C),
y decís a vuestros maridos[a]: Traed ahora, para que bebamos(D).
2 El Señor Dios[b] ha jurado(E) por su santidad(F):
He aquí, vienen sobre vosotras días
en que os llevarán[c] con garfios(G),
y a vuestro remanente con anzuelos(H).
3 Saldréis por las brechas(I),
una tras[d] otra,
y seréis expulsadas[e] al Harmón —declara el Señor.
4 Entrad en Betel y pecad,
multiplicad en Gilgal las transgresiones;
traed vuestros sacrificios cada mañana(J),
vuestros diezmos cada tres días.
5 Ofreced[f] también pan[g] leudado en ofrenda de gratitud(K),
y proclamad ofrendas voluntarias(L), dadlas a conocer,
puesto que así os place(M), hijos de Israel
—declara el Señor Dios.
6 Yo también os he dado dientes limpios en todas vuestras ciudades,
y falta de pan en todos vuestros lugares(N);
pero no os habéis vuelto a mí(O) —declara el Señor.
7 Y además os retuve la lluvia(P)
cuando aún faltaban tres meses para la siega;
hice llover sobre una ciudad
y sobre otra ciudad no hice llover;
sobre una parte llovía,
y la parte donde no llovía, se secó(Q).
8 Así que de dos o tres ciudades iban tambaleándose a otra ciudad para beber agua(R),
y no se saciaban(S);
pero no os habéis vuelto a mí(T) —declara el Señor.
9 Os herí con viento abrasador y con añublo(U);
y la oruga ha devorado
vuestros muchos huertos y viñedos, vuestras higueras y vuestros olivos(V);
pero no os habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor(W).
10 Envié contra vosotros una plaga, como la plaga de Egipto(X),
maté a espada a vuestros jóvenes(Y), junto con vuestros caballos capturados(Z),
e hice subir hasta vuestras narices el hedor de vuestro campamento(AA);
pero no os habéis vuelto a mí(AB) —declara el Señor.
11 Os destruí como Dios destruyó a Sodoma y a Gomorra(AC),
y fuisteis como tizón arrebatado de la hoguera(AD);
pero no os habéis vuelto a mí(AE) —declara el Señor.
12 Por tanto, así haré contigo, Israel;
y porque te he de hacer esto,
prepárate para encontrarte con tu Dios(AF), oh Israel.
13 Pues he aquí el que forma los montes(AG), crea el viento(AH)
y declara al hombre cuáles son sus pensamientos(AI),
el que del alba hace tinieblas(AJ)
y camina sobre las alturas de la tierra(AK):
el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, es su nombre(AL).
