Names of God Bible
The Lord Will Punish the Women of Samaria
4 Listen to this message, you cows of Bashan who live on Mount Samaria.
You women oppress the poor and abuse the needy.
You say to your husbands, “Get some wine! Let’s drink!”
2 Adonay Yahweh has taken an oath on his holiness:
Surely, the time is going to come
when you will be taken away on hooks,
and the rest of you on fishhooks.
3 Each of you will leave the city
through breaks in the wall, one woman ahead of another.
You will be thrown into a garbage dump.
Yahweh declares this.
4 Go to Bethel and sin.
Go to Gilgal and sin even more.
Bring your sacrifices every morning.
Bring a tenth of your income every three days.
5 Burn bread as a thank offering.
Brag and boast about your freewill offerings.
This is what you people of Israel love to do.
Adonay Yahweh declares this.
6 I left you with nothing to eat in any of your cities.
I left you with no food in your entire land.
And you still didn’t return to me, declares Yahweh.
7 I stopped the rain from falling
three months before the harvest.
I sent rain on one city and not on another.
One field had rain.
Another field had none and dried up.
8 So people from two or three cities staggered
as they walked to another city in order to get a drink of water.
But they couldn’t get enough.
And you still didn’t return to me, declares Yahweh.
9 I struck your crops with blight and mildew.
Locusts repeatedly devoured your gardens, vineyards,
fig trees, and olive trees.
And you still didn’t return to me, declares Yahweh.
10 I sent plagues on you as I did to Egypt.
With swords I killed your best young men along with your captured horses.
I made the stench from your camps fill your noses.
And you still didn’t return to me, declares Yahweh.
11 I destroyed some of you as Elohim destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
You were like a burning log snatched from a fire.
And you still didn’t return to me, declares Yahweh.
12 This is what I will do to you, Israel.
Prepare to meet your Elohim.
This is what I will do to you, Israel!
13 Elohim forms the mountains and creates the wind.
He reveals his thoughts to humans.
He makes dawn and dusk appear.
He walks on the high places of the earth.
His name is Yahweh Elohe Tsebaoth.

4 Slušajte, vi bogate žene[a] iz grada Samarije:
»Ugojile ste se kao i vaše krave.
Zlostavljate siromašne,
iskorištavate bespomoćne.
Svojim muževima zapovijedate
da vam donose piće.
2 Gospodar BOG je obećao,
zakleo se svojom svetošću:
‘Dolazi vrijeme kad će vas neprijatelji kukama odvući,
bespomoćne kao ribe na udici.
3 Vući će vas kroz rupe u zidinama,
tjerati prema Harmonu[b].’«
Tako kaže BOG.
4 »A, vi, dođite u Betel i samo griješite,
idite u Gilgal i svoj grijeh još uvećajte.
Ujutro donesite svoje zaklane žrtve,
a treći dan, desetinu usjeva.
5 Prinesite kruh s kvascem kao žrtvu zahvalnicu,
hvalite se svojim dragovoljnim žrtvama.
Jer, to je ono što vi, Izraelci, volite raditi«,
kaže Gospodar BOG.
Izraelci se ne vraćaju svom Bogu
6 »Uzeo sam vam hranu[c] po svim gradovima,
nema se što jesti u cijeloj vašoj zemlji,
a vi mi se ipak niste vratili«, kaže BOG.
7 »Uskratio sam vam kišu
samo tri mjeseca prije žetve.
Poslao sam pljusak na jedan grad,
a u drugome nije pala niti kap.
Jedno je polje dobilo dosta kiše,
a drugo se potpuno osušilo.
8 Ljudi iz dva ili tri grada
lutali su žedni u drugi grad.
Niste imali dovoljno vode,
a ipak mi se niste vratili«, kaže BOG.
9 »Napao sam vas vrućim vjetrovima i plijesni,
uništio sam vam vrtove i vinograde,
skakavci su vam izjeli smokve i masline,
a ipak mi se niste vratili«, kaže BOG.
10 »Poslao sam na vas smrtonosnu bolest,
kao što sam to prije učinio u Egiptu.
Poubijao sam u ratu vaše mladiće
i odveo sve vaše konje.
Učinio sam nesnosnim smrad smrti iz vaših tabora,
a ipak mi se niste vratili«, kaže BOG.
11 »Uništio sam neke od vaših gradova,
kao nekad Sodomu i Gomoru,
a neke sam spasio kao komad drva iz vatre,
ali ipak mi se niste vratili«, kaže BOG.
12 »Zato ću ti ovo učiniti, Izraele.
I budući da ću ti to učiniti, Izraele,
pripremi se svog Boga susresti.«
13 On planine oblikuje i vjetar podiže,
tako svoje namjere otkriva ljudima.
Svjetlo jutra u tamu pretvara,
zemljom gazi po vrhovima planina.
Ime mu je BOG Svevladar.

4 “Hear this word, (A)you cows of Bashan,
who are (B)on the mountain of Samaria,
(C)who oppress the poor, (D)who crush the needy,
who say to your husbands, ‘Bring, that we may drink!’
2 (E)The Lord God has sworn by his holiness
that, behold, the days are coming upon you,
(F)when they shall take you away with hooks,
(G)even the last of you with fishhooks.
3 (H)And you shall go out through the breaches,
each one straight ahead;
and you shall be cast out into Harmon,”
declares the Lord.
4 (I)“Come to Bethel, and transgress;
to (J)Gilgal, and multiply transgression;
(K)bring your (L)sacrifices every morning,
your tithes every three days;
5 offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of (M)that which is leavened,
and proclaim (N)freewill offerings, publish them;
(O)for so you love to do, O people of Israel!”
declares the Lord God.
Israel Has Not Returned to the Lord
6 “I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
and (P)lack of bread in all your places,
(Q)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
7 “I also (R)withheld the rain from you
when there were yet three months to the harvest;
(S)I would send rain on one city,
and send no rain on another city;
one field would have rain,
and the field on which it did not rain would wither;
8 so two or three cities (T)would wander to another city
to drink water, and would not be satisfied;
(U)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
9 (V)“I struck you with blight and mildew;
your many gardens and your vineyards,
your fig trees and your olive trees (W)the locust devoured;
(X)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
10 “I sent among you a pestilence (Y)after the manner of Egypt;
I killed your young men with the sword,
and (Z)carried away your horses,[a]
and (AA)I made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils;
(AB)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
11 “I overthrew some of you,
(AC)as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
and you were (AD)as a brand[b] plucked out of the burning;
(AE)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
12 “Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel;
because I will do this to you,
prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”
