²⁶ Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were, was there no hail.^(A)

¹³ When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain or command the locust to devour the land or send pestilence among my people,^{(A) 14} if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.^(B)

¹⁷ Elijah was a human like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.^(A)

²³ People could not see one another, and for three days they could not move from where they were, but all the Israelites had light where they lived.

⁴ But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing shall die of all that belongs to the Israelites.’ ”^(A)

⁶ They have authority to shut the sky, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.^(A)
