⁶ that no one wrong or exploit a brother or sister in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, just as we have already told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.^(A)

The Old Life and the New

¹⁷ Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord: you must no longer walk as the^[a] gentiles walk, in the futility of their minds;^(A)

²¹ as I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.^[a](A)

⁵ When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with proclaiming the word,^[a] testifying to the Jews that the Messiah^[b] was Jesus.^{(A) 6} When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes^[c] and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the gentiles.”^(B)

⁴⁰ And he testified with many other arguments and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

²⁷ therefore I will take you into exile beyond Damascus, says the Lord, whose name is the God of hosts.^(A)

⁷ You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house.^(A)

¹⁹ Yet he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the Lord; they testified against them, but they would not listen.^(A)
