1 Cuvintele lui Amos, unul(A) din păstorii din Tecoa(B), vedeniile pe care le-a avut el despre Israel, pe vremea(C) lui Ozia, împăratul lui Iuda, şi pe vremea lui Ieroboam(D), fiul lui Ioas, împăratul lui Israel, cu doi ani înaintea cutremurului(E) de pământ. 2 El a zis: „Domnul răcneşte(F) din Sion, glasul Lui răsună din Ierusalim. Păşunile păstorilor jelesc şi vârful Carmelului(G) este uscat.
Împotriva Damascului
3 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Damascului(H), ba pentru patru nu-Mi schimb hotărârea, pentru că au treierat(I) Galaadul cu treierătoarea de fier. 4 De aceea(J) voi trimite foc în casa lui Hazael, care va mistui palatele lui Ben-Hadad. 5 Voi sfărâma zăvoarele Damascului(K) şi voi nimici cu desăvârşire pe locuitorii din Bicat-Aven, împreună cu cel ce ţine toiagul de cârmuire în Bet-Eden, şi poporul Siriei(L) va fi dus rob(M) la Chir’, zice Domnul.
Împotriva Gazei
6 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Gazei(N), ba pentru patru nu-Mi schimb hotărârea, pentru că au luat pe toţi oamenii prinşi de război şi i-au dat Edomului(O), 7 de aceea(P) voi trimite foc în zidurile Gazei şi-i va mistui palatele. 8 Voi nimici cu desăvârşire pe locuitorii din Asdod(Q) şi pe cel ce ţine toiagul împărătesc în Ascalon; Îmi voi întoarce mâna împotriva Ecronului(R) şi ce va mai rămâne(S) din filisteni vor pieri’, zice Domnul Dumnezeu.
Împotriva Tirului
9 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Tirului(T), ba pentru patru nu-Mi schimb hotărârea, pentru că au luat pe toţi oamenii prinşi de război şi i-au dat(U) Edomului şi nu s-au gândit la legământul frăţesc. 10 De aceea(V), voi trimite foc în zidurile Tirului şi-i va mistui palatele.’ 11 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Edomului(W), ba pentru patru nu-Mi schimb hotărârea, pentru că a urmărit pe fraţii(X) săi cu sabia(Y), înăduşindu-şi mila, a dat drumul mâniei(Z) şi îşi ţinea întruna urgia. 12 De aceea voi trimite(AA) foc peste Teman şi va mistui palatele Boţrei.’
Împotriva lui Amon
13 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale copiilor lui Amon(AB), ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărârea, pentru că au spintecat(AC) pântecele femeilor însărcinate ale Galaadului, ca(AD) să-şi mărească ţinutul, 14 de aceea voi aprinde focul în zidurile Rabei(AE) şi-i va mistui palatele în mijlocul strigătelor de război(AF) în ziua luptei şi în mijlocul vijeliei în ziua furtunii. 15 Şi împăratul(AG) lor va merge în robie, el şi căpeteniile lui împreună cu el’, zice Domnul.

English Standard Version
1 The words of Amos, who was among the (A)shepherds[a] of (B)Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel (C)in the days of (D)Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of (E)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years[b] before (F)the earthquake.
Judgment on Israel's Neighbors
2 And he said:
(G)“The Lord roars from Zion
and utters his voice from Jerusalem;
(H)the pastures of the shepherds mourn,
and the (I)top of (J)Carmel withers.”
3 Thus says the Lord:
(K)“For three transgressions of (L)Damascus,
and for four, (M)I will not revoke the punishment,[c]
because they have threshed (N)Gilead
with threshing sledges of iron.
4 (O)So I will send a fire upon the house of (P)Hazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of (Q)Ben-hadad.
5 I will (R)break the gate-bar of (S)Damascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of (T)Aven,[d]
and him who holds the scepter from (U)Beth-eden;
and the people of (V)Syria shall go into exile to (W)Kir,”
says the Lord.
6 Thus says the Lord:
(X)“For three transgressions of (Y)Gaza,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because (Z)they carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.
7 So I will send a fire upon the wall of (AA)Gaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.
8 I will cut off the inhabitants from (AB)Ashdod,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”
says the Lord God.
9 Thus says the Lord:
(AC)“For three transgressions of (AD)Tyre,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
10 So I will send a fire upon the wall of (AE)Tyre,
and it shall devour her strongholds.”
11 Thus says the Lord:
(AF)“For three transgressions of (AG)Edom,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
(AH)because he pursued his brother with the sword
(AI)and cast off all pity,
(AJ)and his anger tore perpetually,
(AK)and he kept his wrath forever.
12 So I will send a fire upon (AL)Teman,
and it shall devour the strongholds of (AM)Bozrah.”
13 Thus says the Lord:
(AN)“For three transgressions of the (AO)Ammonites,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because (AP)they have ripped open pregnant women in (AQ)Gilead,
that they might enlarge their border.
14 So I will kindle a fire in the wall of (AR)Rabbah,
(AS)and it shall devour her strongholds,
with shouting on the day of battle,
(AT)with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;
15 and (AU)their king shall go into exile,
he and his princes[e] together,”
says the Lord.

1 Estas son las palabras de Amós, pastor de Tecoa. Es la visión que recibió acerca de Israel dos años antes del terremoto, cuando Uzías era rey de Judá, y Jeroboán hijo de Joás era rey de Israel.
2 Amós dijo:
«Ruge el Señor desde Sión;
truena su voz desde Jerusalén.
Los pastizales de los pastores quedan asolados,
y se seca la cumbre del Carmelo».
Juicio contra las naciones vecinas
3 Así dice el Señor:
«Porque los delitos de Damasco han llegado a su colmo,[a]
no revocaré su castigo.
Porque trillaron a Galaad
con trillos de hierro,
4 yo enviaré fuego contra el palacio de Jazael,
que consumirá las fortalezas de Ben Adad.
5 Romperé el cerrojo de la puerta de Damasco,
destruiré al que reina en el valle de Avén[b]
y al que empuña el cetro en Bet Edén.
Y el pueblo de Siria
será desterrado a Quir»,
dice el Señor.
6 Así dice el Señor:
«Los delitos de Gaza han llegado a su colmo;
por tanto, no revocaré su castigo:
Porque desterraron a poblaciones enteras
para venderlas a Edom,
7 yo enviaré fuego contra los muros de Gaza,
que consumirá sus fortalezas.
8 Destruiré al que reina en Asdod
y al que empuña el cetro en Ascalón.
Volveré mi mano contra Ecrón,
y perecerá hasta el último de los filisteos»,
dice el Señor omnipotente.
9 Así dice el Señor:
«Los delitos de Tiro han llegado a su colmo;
por tanto, no revocaré su castigo:
Porque le vendieron a Edom poblaciones enteras de cautivos,
olvidando así una alianza entre hermanos,
10 yo enviaré fuego contra los muros de Tiro,
que consumirá sus fortalezas».
11 Así dice el Señor:
«Los delitos de Edom han llegado a su colmo;
por tanto, no revocaré su castigo:
Porque sin mostrar ninguna compasión
persiguieron con espada a su hermano;
porque dieron rienda suelta a su ira
y no dejaron de alimentar su enojo,
12 yo enviaré fuego contra Temán,
que consumirá las fortalezas de Bosra».
13 Así dice el Señor:
«Los delitos de Amón han llegado a su colmo;
por tanto, no revocaré su castigo:
Porque, a fin de extender sus fronteras,
a las mujeres encintas de la región de Galaad
les abrieron el vientre,
14 yo prenderé fuego a los muros de Rabá,
que consumirá sus fortalezas
entre gritos de guerra en el día de la batalla,
y en el rugir de la tormenta en un día de tempestad.
15 Su rey[c] marchará al destierro,
junto con sus oficiales»,
dice el Señor.
