Juicios contra las naciones vecinas
1 Las palabras de Amós, que fue uno de los pastores de Tecoa, que profetizó acerca de Israel en días de Uzías(A) rey de Judá y en días de Jeroboam(B) hijo de Joás, rey de Israel, dos años antes del terremoto. 2 Dijo: Jehová rugirá desde Sion, y dará su voz desde Jerusalén,(C) y los campos de los pastores se enlutarán, y se secará la cumbre del Carmelo.
3 Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Damasco,(D) y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo; porque trillaron a Galaad con trillos de hierro. 4 Prenderé fuego en la casa de Hazael, y consumirá los palacios de Ben-adad. 5 Y quebraré los cerrojos de Damasco, y destruiré a los moradores del valle de Avén, y los gobernadores de Bet-edén; y el pueblo de Siria será transportado a Kir, dice Jehová.
6 Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Gaza, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo; porque llevó cautivo a todo un pueblo para entregarlo a Edom. 7 Prenderé fuego en el muro de Gaza, y consumirá sus palacios. 8 Y destruiré a los moradores de Asdod, y a los gobernadores de Ascalón; y volveré mi mano contra Ecrón, y el resto de los filisteos(E) perecerá, ha dicho Jehová el Señor.
9 Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Tiro,(F) y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo; porque entregaron a todo un pueblo cautivo a Edom, y no se acordaron del pacto de hermanos. 10 Prenderé fuego en el muro de Tiro, y consumirá sus palacios.
11 Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Edom,(G) y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo; porque persiguió a espada a su hermano, y violó todo afecto natural; y en su furor le ha robado siempre, y perpetuamente ha guardado el rencor. 12 Prenderé fuego en Temán, y consumirá los palacios de Bosra.
13 Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de los hijos de Amón,(H) y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo; porque para ensanchar sus tierras abrieron a las mujeres de Galaad que estaban encintas. 14 Encenderé fuego en el muro de Rabá, y consumirá sus palacios con estruendo en el día de la batalla, con tempestad en día tempestuoso; 15 y su rey irá en cautiverio, él y todos sus príncipes, dice Jehová.

1 The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa(A)—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake,(B) when Uzziah(C) was king of Judah and Jeroboam(D) son of Jehoash[a] was king of Israel.(E)
2 He said:
“The Lord roars(F) from Zion
and thunders(G) from Jerusalem;(H)
the pastures of the shepherds dry up,
and the top of Carmel(I) withers.”(J)
Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors
3 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Damascus,(K)
even for four, I will not relent.(L)
Because she threshed Gilead
with sledges having iron teeth,
4 I will send fire(M) on the house of Hazael(N)
that will consume the fortresses(O) of Ben-Hadad.(P)
5 I will break down the gate(Q) of Damascus;
I will destroy the king who is in[b] the Valley of Aven[c]
and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden.(R)
The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,(S)”
says the Lord.(T)
6 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Gaza,(U)
even for four, I will not relent.(V)
Because she took captive whole communities
and sold them to Edom,(W)
7 I will send fire on the walls of Gaza
that will consume her fortresses.
8 I will destroy the king[d] of Ashdod(X)
and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon.
I will turn my hand(Y) against Ekron,
till the last of the Philistines(Z) are dead,”(AA)
says the Sovereign Lord.(AB)
9 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Tyre,(AC)
even for four, I will not relent.(AD)
Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom,
disregarding a treaty of brotherhood,(AE)
10 I will send fire on the walls of Tyre
that will consume her fortresses.(AF)”
11 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Edom,(AG)
even for four, I will not relent.
Because he pursued his brother with a sword(AH)
and slaughtered the women of the land,
because his anger raged continually
and his fury flamed unchecked,(AI)
12 I will send fire on Teman(AJ)
that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.(AK)”
13 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Ammon,(AL)
even for four, I will not relent.
Because he ripped open the pregnant women(AM) of Gilead
in order to extend his borders,
14 I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah(AN)
that will consume(AO) her fortresses
amid war cries(AP) on the day of battle,
amid violent winds(AQ) on a stormy day.
15 Her king[e] will go into exile,
he and his officials together,(AR)”
says the Lord.(AS)

1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.

1 Ito ang mensahe ni Amos na isang pastol ng mga tupa na taga-Tekoa. Ang mensaheng ito ay tungkol sa Israel. Ipinahayag ito sa kanya ng Dios dalawang taon bago lumindol, noong panahon na si Uzia ang hari ng Juda at si Jeroboam na anak ni Joash ang hari ng Israel.
2 Sinabi ni Amos: “Umaatungal ang Panginoon mula sa Zion;[a] dumadagundong ang tinig niya mula sa Jerusalem. Dahil dito natutuyo ang mga pastulan ng mga pastol at nalalanta ang mga tanim sa tuktok ng Bundok ng Carmel.”
Ang Parusa sa Bansang Syria
3 Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa Syria: “Dahil sa patuloy na pagkakasala ng mga taga-Damascus,[b] parurusahan ko sila. Sapagkat pinagmalupitan nila ang mga taga-Gilead na parang giniik ng tabla na may mga ngiping bakal sa ilalim. 4 Kaya susunugin ko ang palasyo ni Haring Hazael at ang matitibay na bahagi ng Damascus na ipinagawa ng anak niyang si Haring Ben Hadad. 5 Wawasakin ko ang pintuan ng Damascus at papatayin ko ang pinuno ng Lambak ng Aven at ng Bet Eden.[c] Bibihagin at dadalhin sa Kir ang mga mamamayan ng Syria.[d] Ako, ang Panginoon, ang nagsasabi nito.”

6 Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa Filistia: “Dahil sa patuloy na pagkakasala ng mga taga-Gaza,[e] parurusahan ko sila. Sapagkat binihag nila ang lahat ng naninirahan sa mga bayan at ipinagbili bilang mga alipin sa Edom. 7 Kaya susunugin ko ang mga pader[f] ng Gaza at ang matitibay na bahagi ng lungsod na ito. 8 Lilipulin ko ang mga pinuno ng Ashdod at ng Ashkelon, at parurusahan ko ang mga taga-Ekron.[g] At ang mga Filisteong makakatakas sa parusa ay mamamatay din. Ako, ang Panginoong Dios, ang nagsasabi nito.”

9 Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa Tyre: “Dahil sa patuloy na pagkakasala ng mga taga-Tyre, parurusahan ko sila. Sapagkat ipinagbili nila ang lahat ng naninirahan sa mga bayan bilang mga alipin sa Edom. Hindi nila sinunod ang kanilang kasunduang pangkapatiran sa mga mamamayang ito. 10 Kaya susunugin ko ang mga pader ng Tyre at ang matitibay na bahagi ng lungsod nito.”

11 Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa Edom: “Dahil sa patuloy na pagkakasala ng mga taga-Edom, parurusahan ko sila. Sapagkat tinugis nila ang kanilang mga kaanak na mga Israelita at walang awang pinatay. Hinding-hindi mawawala ang kanilang galit sa mga Israelita. 12 Kaya susunugin ko ang Teman at ang matitibay na bahagi ng Bozra.”[h]

13 Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa Ammon: “Dahil sa patuloy na pagkakasala ng mga taga-Ammon, parurusahan ko sila. Sapagkat nilaslas nila ang tiyan ng mga buntis sa Gilead nang salakayin nila ito, upang mapalawak ang kanilang lupain. 14 Kaya susunugin ko ang mga pader ng Rabba[i] at ang matitibay na bahagi ng lungsod na ito habang nagsisigawan ang mga kaaway na sumasalakay sa kanila, na parang umuugong na bagyo. 15 At bibihagin ang hari ng Ammon gayon din ang kanyang mga opisyal. Ako, ang Panginoon, ang nagsasabi nito.”
