Amos 1:6-15

New International Version

“For three sins of Gaza,^(A)
    even for four, I will not relent.^(B)
Because she took captive whole communities
    and sold them to Edom,^(C)
7 I will send fire on the walls of Gaza
    that will consume her fortresses.
⁸ I will destroy the king^[a] of Ashdod^(D)
    and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon.
I will turn my hand^(E) against Ekron,
    till the last of the Philistines^(F) are dead,”^(G)
says the Sovereign Lord.^(H)

“For three sins of Tyre,^(I)
    even for four, I will not relent.^(J)
Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom,
    disregarding a treaty of brotherhood,^(K)
10 I will send fire on the walls of Tyre
    that will consume her fortresses.^(L)”

“For three sins of Edom,^(M)
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because he pursued his brother with a sword^(N)
    and slaughtered the women of the land,
because his anger raged continually
    and his fury flamed unchecked,^(O)
12 I will send fire on Teman^(P)
    that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.^(Q)”

“For three sins of Ammon,^(R)
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because he ripped open the pregnant women^(S) of Gilead
    in order to extend his borders,
¹⁴ I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah^(T)
    that will consume^(U) her fortresses
amid war cries^(V) on the day of battle,
    amid violent winds^(W) on a stormy day.
¹⁵ Her king^[b] will go into exile,
    he and his officials together,^(X)”
says the Lord.^(Y)
