⁵ I will break the gate bars of Damascus
    and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven
and the one who holds the scepter from Beth-eden,
    and the people of Aram shall go into exile to Kir,
            says the Lord.^(A)

³⁰ The warriors of Babylon have given up fighting;
    they remain in their strongholds;
their strength has failed;
    they have become women;
her buildings are set on fire;
    her bars are broken.^(A)

¹³ Look at your troops:
    they are women in your midst.
The gates of your land
    are wide open to your foes;
    fire has devoured the bars of your gates.^(A)

³⁶ A sword against the diviners,
    so that they may become fools!
A sword against her warriors,
    so that they may be dismayed!^(A)
