Amos 1:3-10

^(A)“For three transgressions of ^(B)Damascus,
    and for four, ^(C)I will not revoke the punishment,^[a]
because they have threshed ^(D)Gilead
    with threshing sledges of iron.
^4 (E)So I will send a fire upon the house of ^(F)Hazael,
    and it shall devour the strongholds of ^(G)Ben-hadad.
⁵ I will ^(H)break the gate-bar of ^(I)Damascus,
    and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of ^(J)Aven,^[b]
and him who holds the scepter from ^(K)Beth-eden;
    and the people of ^(L)Syria shall go into exile to ^(M)Kir,”
says the Lord.

^(N)“For three transgressions of ^(O)Gaza,
    and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because ^(P)they carried into exile a whole people
    to deliver them up to Edom.
⁷ So I will send a fire upon the wall of ^(Q)Gaza,
    and it shall devour her strongholds.
⁸ I will cut off the inhabitants from ^(R)Ashdod,
    and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
    and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”
says the Lord God.

^(S)“For three transgressions of ^(T)Tyre,
    and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
    and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
¹⁰ So I will send a fire upon the wall of ^(U)Tyre,
    and it shall devour her strongholds.”
