Visão da ruína do altar. Promessa de restauração
9 Vi o Senhor, que estava em pé sobre o altar, e me disse: Fere o capitel, e estremeçam os umbrais, e faze tudo em pedaços sobre a cabeça de todos eles; e eu matarei à espada até ao último deles; o que fugir dentre eles não escapará, nem o que escapar dentre eles se salvará. 2 Ainda que cavem até ao inferno, a minha mão os tirará dali; e, se subirem ao céu, dali os farei descer. 3 E, se se esconderem no cume do Carmelo, buscá-los-ei e dali os tirarei; e, se se ocultarem aos meus olhos no fundo do mar, ali darei ordem à serpente, e ela os morderá. 4 E, se forem para o cativeiro diante de seus inimigos, ali darei ordem à espada para que os mate; e eu porei os meus olhos sobre eles para mal e não para bem.
5 Porque o Senhor, o Senhor dos Exércitos, é o que toca a terra, e ela se derrete, e todos os que habitam nela chorarão; e ela subirá toda como o grande rio e se submergirá como o Egito. 6 Ele é o que edifica as suas câmaras no céu, e a sua abóbada fundou na terra, e o que chama as águas do mar, e as derrama sobre a terra; o Senhor é o seu nome.
7 Não sois vós para mim, ó filhos de Israel, como os filhos dos etíopes? Diz o Senhor. Não fiz eu subir a Israel da terra do Egito, e aos filisteus, de Caftor, e aos siros, de Quir? 8 Eis que os olhos do Senhor Jeová estão contra este reino pecador, e eu o destruirei de sobre a face da terra; mas não destruirei de todo a casa de Jacó, diz o Senhor. 9 Porque eis que darei ordem e sacudirei a casa de Israel entre todas as nações, assim como se sacode grão no crivo, sem que caia na terra um só grão. 10 Todos os pecadores do meu povo morrerão à espada, os quais dizem: Não se avizinhará nem nos encontrará o mal.
11 Naquele dia, tornarei a levantar a tenda de Davi, que caiu, e taparei as suas aberturas, e tornarei a levantar as suas ruínas, e a edificarei como nos dias da antiguidade; 12 para que possuam o restante de Edom e todas as nações que são chamadas pelo meu nome, diz o Senhor, que faz estas coisas.
13 Eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor, em que o que lavra alcançará ao que sega, e o que pisa as uvas, ao que lança a semente; e os montes destilarão mosto, e todos os outeiros se derreterão. 14 E removerei o cativeiro do meu povo Israel, e reedificarão as cidades assoladas, e nelas habitarão, e plantarão vinhas, e beberão o seu vinho, e farão pomares, e lhes comerão o fruto. 15 E os plantarei na sua terra, e não serão mais arrancados da sua terra que lhes dei, diz o Senhor, teu Deus.

Israel to Be Destroyed
9 I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said:
“Strike the tops of the pillars
so that the thresholds shake.
Bring them down on the heads(A) of all the people;
those who are left I will kill with the sword.
Not one will get away,
none will escape.(B)
2 Though they dig down to the depths below,(C)
from there my hand will take them.
Though they climb up to the heavens above,(D)
from there I will bring them down.(E)
3 Though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel,(F)
there I will hunt them down and seize them.(G)
Though they hide from my eyes at the bottom of the sea,(H)
there I will command the serpent(I) to bite them.(J)
4 Though they are driven into exile by their enemies,
there I will command the sword(K) to slay them.
5 The Lord, the Lord Almighty—
he touches the earth and it melts,(O)
and all who live in it mourn;
the whole land rises like the Nile,
then sinks like the river of Egypt;(P)
6 he builds his lofty palace[a](Q) in the heavens
and sets its foundation[b] on the earth;
he calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the Lord is his name.(R)
7 “Are not you Israelites
the same to me as the Cushites[c]?”(S)
declares the Lord.
“Did I not bring Israel up from Egypt,
the Philistines(T) from Caphtor[d](U)
and the Arameans from Kir?(V)
8 “Surely the eyes of the Sovereign Lord
are on the sinful kingdom.
I will destroy(W) it
from the face of the earth.
Yet I will not totally destroy
the descendants of Jacob,”
declares the Lord.(X)
9 “For I will give the command,
and I will shake the people of Israel
among all the nations
as grain(Y) is shaken in a sieve,(Z)
and not a pebble will reach the ground.(AA)
10 All the sinners among my people
will die by the sword,(AB)
all those who say,
‘Disaster will not overtake or meet us.’(AC)
Israel’s Restoration
11 “In that day
“I will restore David’s(AD) fallen shelter(AE)—
I will repair its broken walls
and restore its ruins(AF)—
and will rebuild it as it used to be,(AG)
12 so that they may possess the remnant of Edom(AH)
and all the nations that bear my name,[e](AI)”
declares the Lord, who will do these things.(AJ)
13 “The days are coming,”(AK) declares the Lord,
“when the reaper(AL) will be overtaken by the plowman(AM)
and the planter by the one treading(AN) grapes.
New wine(AO) will drip from the mountains
and flow from all the hills,(AP)
14 and I will bring(AQ) my people Israel back from exile.[f](AR)
“They will rebuild the ruined cities(AS) and live in them.
They will plant vineyards(AT) and drink their wine;
they will make gardens and eat their fruit.(AU)
15 I will plant(AV) Israel in their own land,(AW)
never again to be uprooted(AX)
from the land I have given them,”(AY)
says the Lord your God.(AZ)

Judgment on Israel
9 I saw a vision of the Lord
standing by the temple altar,[a]
and he said,
“Shake the columns
until the tops fall loose,
and the doorposts crumble.
Then make the pieces fall
on the people below.
I will take a sword and kill
anyone who escapes.
2 “If they dig deep into the earth
or climb to the sky,
I'll reach out and get them.
3 If they escape to the peaks
of Mount Carmel,
I'll search and find them.
And if they hide from me
at the bottom of the ocean,
I'll command a sea monster
to bite them.
4 I'll send a sword to kill them,
wherever their enemies
drag them off as captives.
I'm determined to hurt them,
not to help them.”
His Name Is the Lord
5 When the Lord God All-Powerful
touches the earth, it melts,
and its people mourn.
God makes the earth rise
and then fall,
just like the Nile River.
6 He built his palace in the heavens
and let its foundations
rest on the earth.[b]
He scoops up the ocean
and empties it on the earth.
His name is the Lord.
The Lord Is God
7 Israel, I am the Lord God,
and the Ethiopians[c]
are no less important to me
than you are.
I brought you out of Egypt,
but I also brought
the Philistines from Crete[d]
and the Arameans from Kir.[e]
8 My eyes have seen
what a sinful nation you are,
and I'll wipe you out.
But I will leave a few
of Jacob's descendants.
I, the Lord, have spoken!
9 At my command, all of you
will be sifted like grain.
Israelites who remain faithful
will be scattered
among the nations.
And the others will be trapped
like trash in a sifter.
10 Some of you are evil,
and you deny
that you will ever get caught.
But you will be killed.
The Lord's Promise to Israel
11 (A) In the future, I will rebuild
David's fallen kingdom.
I will build it from its ruins
and set it up again,
just as it used to be.
12 Then you will capture Edom
and the other nations
that are mine.
I, the Lord, have spoken,
and my words will come true.
13 You will have such a harvest
that you won't be able
to bring in all of your wheat
before plowing time.
You will have grapes left over
from season to season;
your fruitful vineyards
will cover the mountains.
14 I'll make Israel prosper again.
You will rebuild your towns
and live in them.
You will drink wine
from your own vineyards
and eat the fruit you grow.
15 I'll plant your roots deep
in the land I have given you,
and you won't ever
be uprooted again.
I, the Lord God, have spoken!

9 Io vidi il Signore che stava in piedi vicino all'Altare e disse: «Colpisci i capitelli e siano scosse le porte, e spezzali sulla testa di tutti loro. Io ucciderò quindi i loro superstiti con la spada. Nessun di essi che fugge riuscirà a scampare, e nessuno di essi che scappa riuscirà a mettersi in salvo.
2 Anche se penetrassero nello Sceol, di là li strapperà la mia mano, anche se salissero in cielo, di là io li tirerò giú.
3 Anche se si nascondessero in cima al Karmel, di là li scoverò e li prenderò; anche se si celassero al mio sguardo in fondo al mare, là comanderò al serpente di morderli
4 anche se andassero in cattività davanti ai loro nemici, là comanderò alla spada di ucciderli. Io fisserò su di loro i miei occhi per il male e non per il bene.
5 Il Signore, L'eterno degli eserciti, è lui che tocca la terra ed essa si fonde, e tutti i suoi abitanti fanno cordoglio; essa si solleva tutta quanta come il Nilo e si abbassa come il fiume d'egitto.
6 E lui che costruisce nei cieli le sue stanze superiori e ha fondato la sua volta sulla terra; è lui che chiama le acque del mare e le riversa sulla faccia della terra; il suo nome è l'Eterno.
7 Non siete voi per me come i figli degli Etiopi, o figli d'Israele?», dice l'Eterno. «Non ho io fatto uscire Israele dal paese d'Egitto, i Filistei da Kaftor e i Siri da Kir?
8 Ecco, gli occhi del Signore l'Eterno, sono sul regno peccatore: io lo sterminerò dalla faccia della terra, ma non sterminerò del tutto la casa di Giacobbe», dice l'Eterno.
9 «Poiché ecco, io darò il comando e vaglierò la casa d'Israele fra tutte le nazioni, come si vaglia col setaccio, ma a terra non cadrà neppure il piú piccolo chicco di grano.
10 Tutti i peccatori del mio popolo moriranno per la spada, essi che dicono: "La calamità non si avvicinerà né giungerà fino a noi"».
11 «In quel giorno, io rialzerò il tabernacolo di Davide che è caduto, riparerò le sue brecce e rialzerò le sue rovine, e lo ricostruirò come nei giorni antichi,
12 affinché posseggano il resto di Edom e tutte le nazioni sulle quali è invocato il mio nome», dice l'Eterno che farà questo.
13 «Ecco, i giorni vengono», dice l'Eterno, «in cui chi ara giungerà vicino a chi miete e chi pigia l'uva a chi sparge il seme; allora i monti stilleranno mosto, che scorrerà giú per i colli.
14 Farò tornare dalla cattività il mio popolo Israele, ed essi ricostruiranno le città desolate e le abiteranno, pianteranno vigne e ne berranno il vino, coltiveranno giardini e ne mangeranno i frutti.
15 Li pianterò sulla loro terra e non saranno mai piú sradicati dal suolo che io ho dato loro, dice l'Eterno, il tuo DIO».
