Palabra de Dios para Todos
Las mujeres que aman el placer
4 Escuchen este mensaje,
vacas gordas de Basán[a],
que viven en el monte de Samaria:
Ustedes maltratan a la gente pobre
y pisotean a los necesitados.
Ustedes les dicen a sus maridos:
«Un trago, por favor».
2 El Señor DIOS prometió por su santidad:
«Vendrán tiempos muy difíciles para ustedes.
La gente se las llevará con ganchos
y a sus hijos los llevarán con anzuelos.
3 Una tras otra saldrán de la ciudad por los agujeros de las paredes
y las echarán a todas hacia el monte Hermón[b].
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
4 »¡Vayan ya a pecar a Betel!
¡Vayan ya a Guilgal[c]
y pequen mucho más!
Cada mañana lleven sus ofrendas y sacrificios
y al tercer día lleven la décima parte de su cosecha.
5 Quemen pan con levadura como ofrenda de gratitud.
Anuncien públicamente todas sus ofrendas voluntarias,
porque eso es lo que les encanta hacer a ustedes, pueblo de Israel[d].
Es lo que dice el Señor DIOS.
6 »No les di nada de comer[e],
y les faltó comida en todas sus ciudades.
Pero ustedes no quisieron regresar a mí.
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
7 »Detuve la lluvia tres meses antes de la cosecha,
y no crecieron los cultivos.
Permití que lloviera en unas ciudades
y en otras no.
Unos lugares tuvieron lluvias
y otros se secaron.
8 Los refugiados de dos o tres ciudades se iban a otra ciudad en busca de agua,
pues no hubo suficiente para todos.
Aun así ustedes no regresaron a mí».
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
9 »Hice que se dañaran sus cultivos por el calor y las plagas.
Destruí sus huertos y viñedos,
y las langostas devoraron sus higueras y olivos,
pero ustedes no regresaron a mí.
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
10 »Envié plagas terribles
como hice con Egipto.
Hice que sus jóvenes murieran en batallas
junto con sus caballos.
Hice que ustedes sintieran el mal olor de su ejército,
pero ustedes no regresaron a mí.
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
11 »Los destruí como lo hice
con Sodoma y con Gomorra.
Parecían como una brasa sacada del fuego,
pero aun así ustedes no regresaron a mí.
Es lo que dice el SEÑOR.
12 »Por eso voy a castigarte, Israel.
Voy a hacer lo mismo contigo;
así que prepárate para encontrarte con tu Dios, Israel».
13 ¿Quién es él?
Pues el que creó las montañas y los vientos,
el que da a conocer sus pensamientos a los hombres,
el que transforma la luz en oscuridad
y puede llegar hasta los lugares más altos de la tierra.
Su nombre es YAVÉ Dios Todopoderoso.

- 4:1 vacas gordas de Basán Basán era un lugar muy reconocido por sus grandes vacas y toros. Aquí la expresión se usa para dirigirse a las mujeres ricas de Samaria.
- 4:3 Hermón Textualmente Harmón. No se sabe la ubicación de este lugar, tal vez se trate de la región de Damasco en Aram.
- 4:4 Betel, Guilgal Importantes centros de culto en el norte de Israel.
- 4:5 Todo esto iba en contra de la ley de Moisés. Los líderes y los sacerdotes falsos crearon esas nuevas formas de alabar a Dios.
- 4:6 No les di nada de comer Textualmente les di dientes limpios.
Amos 4
English Standard Version
4 “Hear this word, (A)you cows of Bashan,
who are (B)on the mountain of Samaria,
(C)who oppress the poor, (D)who crush the needy,
who say to your husbands, ‘Bring, that we may drink!’
2 (E)The Lord God has sworn by his holiness
that, behold, the days are coming upon you,
(F)when they shall take you away with hooks,
(G)even the last of you with fishhooks.
3 (H)And you shall go out through the breaches,
each one straight ahead;
and you shall be cast out into Harmon,”
declares the Lord.
4 (I)“Come to Bethel, and transgress;
to (J)Gilgal, and multiply transgression;
(K)bring your (L)sacrifices every morning,
your tithes every three days;
5 offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of (M)that which is leavened,
and proclaim (N)freewill offerings, publish them;
(O)for so you love to do, O people of Israel!”
declares the Lord God.
Israel Has Not Returned to the Lord
6 “I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
and (P)lack of bread in all your places,
(Q)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
7 “I also (R)withheld the rain from you
when there were yet three months to the harvest;
(S)I would send rain on one city,
and send no rain on another city;
one field would have rain,
and the field on which it did not rain would wither;
8 so two or three cities (T)would wander to another city
to drink water, and would not be satisfied;
(U)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
9 (V)“I struck you with blight and mildew;
your many gardens and your vineyards,
your fig trees and your olive trees (W)the locust devoured;
(X)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
10 “I sent among you a pestilence (Y)after the manner of Egypt;
I killed your young men with the sword,
and (Z)carried away your horses,[a]
and (AA)I made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils;
(AB)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
11 “I overthrew some of you,
(AC)as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
and you were (AD)as a brand[b] plucked out of the burning;
(AE)yet you did not return to me,”
declares the Lord.
12 “Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel;
because I will do this to you,
prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”
