Juicio contra las naciones vecinas
1 Palabras de Amós, que fue uno de los pastores(A) de Tecoa(B), de lo que vio en visión acerca de Israel en días de Uzías, rey de Judá(C), y en días de Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel(D), dos años antes del terremoto(E).
2 Y dijo:
El Señor ruge desde Sión,
y desde Jerusalén da su voz(F);
los pastizales de los pastores están de duelo(G),
y se seca la cumbre[a] del Carmelo(H).
3 Así dice el Señor:
Por tres transgresiones(I) de Damasco(J), y por cuatro,
no revocaré[b] su castigo,
porque trillaron a Galaad con trillos de hierro.
4 Por eso enviaré fuego sobre la casa de Hazael,
y consumirá los palacios[c] de Ben-adad(K).
5 También romperé el cerrojo(L) de Damasco,
extirparé al morador del valle de Avén[d]
y al que empuña el cetro de Bet-edén,
y el pueblo de Aram será desterrado a Kir(M)
—dice el Señor.
6 Así dice el Señor:
Por tres transgresiones de Gaza(N), y por cuatro,
no revocaré su castigo,
por haber deportado a todo un pueblo
para entregarlo(O) a Edom.
7 Enviaré, pues, fuego sobre la muralla de Gaza,
y consumirá sus palacios.
8 También extirparé al morador de Asdod(P),
y al que empuña el cetro de Ascalón(Q);
desataré mi poder[e] sobre Ecrón,
y el remanente de los filisteos perecerá(R)
—dice el Señor Dios[f].
9 Así dice el Señor:
por tres transgresiones de Tiro(S), y por cuatro,
no revocaré su castigo,
por haber entregado todo un pueblo cautivo a Edom
sin acordarse del pacto de hermanos(T).
10 Enviaré, pues, fuego sobre la muralla de Tiro,
y consumirá sus palacios(U).
11 Así dice el Señor:
Por tres transgresiones de Edom(V), y por cuatro,
no revocaré su castigo,
porque con espada persiguió a su hermano,
y suprimió[g] su compasión(W);
su ira continuó despedazando
y mantuvo su furor para siempre(X).
12 Enviaré, pues, fuego sobre Temán(Y),
y consumirá los palacios de Bosra.
13 Así dice el Señor:
Por tres transgresiones de los hijos de Amón(Z), y por cuatro,
no revocaré su castigo,
porque abrieron los vientres de las mujeres encinta(AA) de Galaad
para ensanchar sus fronteras(AB).
14 Encenderé, pues, fuego en la muralla de Rabá(AC),
y consumirá sus palacios
en medio de gritos de guerra en el día de la batalla(AD),
en medio de una tempestad en el día de la tormenta(AE);
15 y su rey irá al destierro,
él y sus príncipes con él(AF) —dice el Señor.

Judgments on Israel’s Neighbors
1 The words of Amos, who was among the (A)sheepbreeders of (B)Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of (C)Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of (D)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the (E)earthquake.
2 And he said:
“The Lord (F)roars from Zion,
And utters His voice from Jerusalem;
The pastures of the shepherds mourn,
And the top of (G)Carmel withers.”
Judgment on the Nations
3 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of (H)Damascus, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they have (I)threshed Gilead with implements of iron.
4 (J)But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael,
Which shall devour the palaces of (K)Ben-Hadad.
5 I will also break the gate (L)bar of Damascus,
And cut off the inhabitant from the Valley of Aven,
And the one who [a]holds the scepter from [b]Beth Eden.
The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir,”
Says the Lord.
6 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of (M)Gaza, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they took captive the whole captivity
To deliver them up to Edom.
7 (N)But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza,
Which shall devour its palaces.
8 I will cut off the inhabitant (O)from Ashdod,
And the one who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will (P)turn My hand against Ekron,
And (Q)the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”
Says the Lord God.
9 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of (R)Tyre, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom,
And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
10 But I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre,
Which shall devour its palaces.”
11 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of (S)Edom, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because he pursued his (T)brother with the sword,
And cast off all pity;
His anger tore perpetually,
And he kept his wrath forever.
12 But (U)I will send a fire upon Teman,
Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.”
13 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of (V)the people of Ammon, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they ripped open the women with child in Gilead,
That they might enlarge their territory.
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of (W)Rabbah,
And it shall devour its palaces,
(X)Amid shouting in the day of battle,
And a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.
15 (Y)Their king shall go into captivity,
He and his princes together,”

1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
