¹⁴ Simon^[a] has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles.^{(A) 15} The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom^(A) will be preached in the whole world^(B) as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

⁵ Through him we received grace^(A) and apostleship to call all the Gentiles^(B) to the obedience that comes from^[a] faith^(C) for his name’s sake.

¹⁴ in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy^(A) and save^(B) some of them.

²² To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.^(A) I have become all things to all people^(B) so that by all possible means I might save some.^(C)
