³⁵When he came to the steps, Paul^[a] had to be carried^[b] by the soldiers because of the violence^[c] of the mob,

Acts 21:35 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Paul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
Acts 21:35 sn Paul had to be carried. Note how the arrest really ended up protecting Paul. The crowd is portrayed as irrational at this point.

³⁵And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

³⁵When he reached the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob.
