²² Saul became increasingly more powerful and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus^[a] was the Messiah.^[b](A)

⁵ When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with proclaiming the word,^[a] testifying to the Jews that the Messiah^[b] was Jesus.^(A)

¹⁵ for I will give you words^[a] and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.^(A)

²⁷ But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;^(A)

²⁷ And when he wished to cross over to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. On his arrival he greatly helped those who through grace had become believers,^{(A) 28} for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Messiah^[a] is Jesus.^(B)

²³ After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.

⁹ Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and others of those from Cilicia and Asia, stood up and argued with Stephen. ¹⁰ But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit^[a] with which he spoke.^(A)

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.^(A)

³ explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Messiah^[a] to suffer and to rise from the dead and saying, “This is the Messiah,^[b] Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you.”^(A)
