Acts 9:10-19
English Standard Version
10 Now there was a disciple at Damascus named (A)Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, (B)“Here I am, Lord.” 11 And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man (C)of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, 12 and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and (D)lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” 13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, (E)how much evil he has done to (F)your (G)saints at Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from (H)the chief priests to bind all who (I)call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for (J)he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name (K)before the Gentiles and (L)kings and the children of Israel. 16 For (M)I will show him how much (N)he must suffer (O)for the sake of my name.” 17 So (P)Ananias departed and entered the house. And (Q)laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and (R)be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and (S)he regained his sight. Then (T)he rose and was baptized; 19 and (U)taking food, he was strengthened.

but a man of evil devices he condemns.

4 (E)An excellent wife is (F)the crown of her husband,
but she who (G)brings shame is like (H)rottenness in his bones.
5 (I)The thoughts of the righteous are just;
the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
6 The words of the wicked (J)lie in wait for blood,
but (K)the mouth of the upright delivers them.
7 (L)The wicked are (M)overthrown and are no more,
(N)but the house of the righteous will stand.
8 A man is commended according to his good sense,
but one of twisted mind is (O)despised.
9 Better to be lowly and have a servant
than to play the great man and lack bread.
