The Conversion of Saul

9 But Saul, ^(A)still ^(B)breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to ^(C)the high priest ²and asked him for letters ^(D)to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to ^(E)the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. ³^(F)Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. ⁴And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting ^(G)me?” ⁵And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, ^(H)whom you are persecuting. ⁶But ^(I)rise and enter the city, and you will be told ^(J)what you are to do.” ⁷^(K)The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, ^(L)hearing the voice but seeing no one. ⁸Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, ^(M)he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. ⁹And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

Proverbs 11:21-31

²¹^(A)Be assured, ^(B)an evil person will not go unpunished,
    but ^(C)the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
²²Like ^(D)a gold ring in a pig's snout
    is a beautiful woman without discretion.
²³The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
    ^(E)the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
²⁴^(F)One gives ^(G)freely, yet grows all the richer;
    another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
²⁵^(H)Whoever brings blessing ^(I)will be enriched,
    and ^(J)one who waters will himself be watered.
²⁶^(K)The people curse him who holds back grain,
    but ^(L)a blessing is on the head of him who ^(M)sells it.
²⁷Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,^[a]
    but evil comes to ^(N)him who searches for it.
²⁸Whoever ^(O)trusts in his riches will fall,
    but the righteous will ^(P)flourish like a green leaf.
²⁹Whoever ^(Q)troubles his own household will ^(R)inherit the wind,
    and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
³⁰The fruit of the righteous is ^(S)a tree of life,
    and whoever ^(T)captures souls is wise.
³¹If ^(U)the righteous is repaid on earth,
    how much more the wicked and the sinner!
