²¹ You have no part or share in this, for your heart is not right before God.^(A)

The Eye

²² “The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,^{(A) 23} but if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If, then, the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Serving Two Masters

²⁴ “No one can serve two masters, for a slave will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.^[a](B)

¹⁹ if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Psalm 36

Human Wickedness and Divine Goodness

To the leader. Of David, the servant of the Lord.

⁶ Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.^(A)

²³ and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.^(A)

² He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a true heart.^(A)
