¹² But when they believed Philip ^(A)as he was preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being ^(B)baptized. ¹³ Now even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed ^(C)signs and ^(D)great miracles taking place, he was repeatedly amazed.

¹⁴ Now when ^(E)the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them ^(F)Peter and John, ¹⁵ who came down and prayed for them ^(G)that they would receive the Holy Spirit. ¹⁶ (For He had ^(H)not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been ^(I)baptized ^[a]in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ¹⁷ Then they ^(J)began laying their hands on them, and they were ^(K)receiving the Holy Spirit.

⁴⁴ While Peter was still speaking these words, ^(A)the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the ^[a]message. ^45 (B)All the ^[b]Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had also been ^(C)poured out on the Gentiles. ⁴⁶ For they were hearing them ^(D)speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter responded,

¹⁴ and he will speak ^(A)words to you by which you will be saved, you and ^(B)all your household.’ ¹⁵ And as I began to speak, ^(C)the Holy Spirit fell upon them just ^(D)as He did upon us at the beginning. ¹⁶ And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘^(E)John baptized with water, but you will be baptized ^[a]with the Holy Spirit.’

⁷ After there had been much ^(A)debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “^[a]Brothers, you know that ^[b]in the early days ^(B)God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of ^(C)the gospel and believe. ⁸ And God, ^(D)who knows the heart, testified to them ^(E)giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; ⁹ and ^(F)He made no distinction between us and them, ^(G)cleansing their hearts by faith.

³⁷ Now on ^(A)the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “^(B)If anyone is thirsty, ^[a]let him come to Me and drink. ³⁸ The one who believes in Me, ^(C)as the Scripture said, ‘^[b]From his innermost being will flow rivers of ^(D)living water.’” ³⁹ But this He said ^(E)in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for ^(F)the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet ^(G)glorified.
