^15 (A)So Jacob went down to Egypt; ^(B)and he died, he and our fathers.

⁶ And ^(A)Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation.

³³ And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

³ So He said, “I am God, ^(A)the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will ^(B)make of you a great nation there. ^4 (C)I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely ^(D)bring you up again; and ^(E)Joseph ^[a]will put his hand on your eyes.”

⁵ Then ^(F)Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little ones, and their wives, in the ^[b]carts ^(G)which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. ⁶ So they took their livestock and their goods, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to Egypt, ^(H)Jacob and all his descendants with him. ⁷ His sons and his sons’ sons, his daughters and his sons’ daughters, and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt.

²¹ By faith Jacob, when he was dying, ^(A)blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.

²² By faith ^(B)Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.

⁴ To Isaac I gave ^(A)Jacob and Esau. To ^(B)Esau I gave the mountains of Seir to possess, ^(C)but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt.

⁵ And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God: ‘My father was ^(A)a ^[a]Syrian, ^(B)about to perish, and ^(C)he went down to Egypt and ^[b]dwelt there, ^(D)few in number; and there he became a nation, ^(E)great, mighty, and populous.

²² Your fathers went down to Egypt with seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

^15 (A)how our fathers went down to Egypt, ^(B)and we dwelt in Egypt a long time, ^(C)and the Egyptians ^[a]afflicted us and our fathers.
