^11 (A)Now a famine and great ^[a]trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance.

Joseph Deals with the Famine

¹³ Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, ^(A)so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. ^14 (B)And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

¹⁵ So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us bread, for ^(C)why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed.”

¹¹ There I will ^(A)provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.” ’

⁵ But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; ^(A)for God sent me before you to preserve life. ⁶ For these two years the ^(B)famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.

Joseph’s Brothers Return with Benjamin

43 Now the famine was ^(A)severe in the land.

⁵ And the sons of Israel went to buy grain among those who journeyed, for the famine was ^(A)in the land of Canaan.

^54 (A)and the seven years of famine began to come, ^(B)as Joseph had said. The famine was in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. ⁵⁵ So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph; ^(C)whatever he says to you, do.” ⁵⁶ The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph opened ^[a]all the storehouses and ^(D)sold to the Egyptians. And the famine became severe in the land of Egypt. ^57 (E)So all countries came to Joseph in Egypt to ^(F)buy grain, because the famine was severe in all lands.
