The Choosing of the Seven

6 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing,^(A) the Hellenistic Jews^[a](B) among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows^(C) were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.^(D)

³⁵ and put it at the apostles’ feet,^(A) and it was distributed to anyone who had need.^(B)

⁴¹ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number^(A) that day.

⁹ Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters,^(A) or you will be judged. The Judge^(B) is standing at the door!^(C)

³⁹ Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows^(A) stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.

⁷ So the word of God spread.^(A) The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly,^(B) and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

⁴⁷ praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.^(A) And the Lord added to their number^(B) daily those who were being saved.

⁵ circumcised^(A) on the eighth day, of the people of Israel,^(B) of the tribe of Benjamin,^(C) a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;^(D)

²⁰ Some of them, however, men from Cyprus^(A) and Cyrene,^(B) went to Antioch^(C) and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news^(D) about the Lord Jesus.
