40 They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they (A)flogged them and ordered them not to [a]speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. 41 So they went on their way from the presence of the [b](B)Council, (C)rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame (D)for His name. 42 (E)And every day, in the temple and [c]from house to house, they did not stop teaching and (F)preaching the good news of Jesus as the [d]Christ.

40 And they summoned the apostles, beat them,[a] commanded them[b] not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.[c] 41 So they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin[d] rejoicing, because they had been considered worthy to be dishonored for the sake of the name. 42 Every day, both in the temple courts[e] and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ[f] was Jesus.
