⁶ And the young men arose and ^(A)wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

⁴⁰ Then they took the body of Jesus, and ^(A)bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

¹⁷ And they took Absalom and cast him into a large pit in the woods, and ^(A)laid a very large heap of stones over him. Then all Israel ^(B)fled, everyone to his tent.

^23 (A)his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that ^(B)you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for ^(C)he who is hanged is accursed of God.

⁴ Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come near, ^(A)carry your brethren from ^[a]before the sanctuary out of the camp.” ⁵ So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, “Do not ^[b]uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and ^(B)wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, ^[c]bewail the burning which the Lord has kindled.
