²⁸ saying, “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,^[a] yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are determined to bring this man’s blood on us.”^(A)

²⁵ Then the people as a whole answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”^(A)

⁵² Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, and now you have become his betrayers and murderers.^(A)

¹⁸ So they called them and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.^{(A) 19} But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge;^{(B) 20} for we cannot keep from speaking about what we have seen and heard.”^{(C) 21} After threatening them again, they let them go, finding no way to punish them because of the people, for all of them praised God for what had happened.^(D)

¹⁰ let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,^[a] whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead.^{(A) 11} This Jesus^[b] is

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets^[a] and drove us out; they displease God and oppose everyone^{(A) 16} by hindering us from speaking to the gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they have constantly been filling up the measure of their sins, but wrath^[b] has overtaken them at last.^[c](B)

⁴⁰ and when they had called in the apostles, they had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and let them go.^(A)

¹⁴ But you rejected the holy and righteous^[a] one and asked to have a murderer given to you,^{(A) 15} and you killed the author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.^(B)

²³ this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law.^{(A) 24} But God raised him up, having released him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power.^{(B) 25} For David says concerning him,

²⁹ “Fellow Israelites,^[a] I may say to you confidently of our ancestor David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.^{(E) 30} Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would put one of his descendants on his throne.^{(F) 31} Foreseeing this, David^[b] spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah,^[c] saying,

³² “This Jesus God raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses.^{(H) 33} Being therefore exalted at^[d] the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you see and hear.^{(I) 34} For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,

³⁶ “Therefore let the entire house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Messiah,^[e] this Jesus whom you crucified.”
