¹⁸ arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison.^{(A) 19} But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and said,^{(B) 20} “Go, stand in the temple and tell the people the whole message about this life.”^(C)

² For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.^(A)

² not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as though from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.^(A)

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed.^[a](A)
