¹⁶ Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.^(A)

¹⁷ And these signs^(A) will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;^(B) they will speak in new tongues;^{(C) 18} they will pick up snakes^(D) with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on^(E) sick people, and they will get well.”

³ Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man,^(A) carried by four of them. ⁴ Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.

¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins^(A) to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.^(B) The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.^(C)

⁹ to another faith^(A) by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing^(B) by that one Spirit,

³⁰ Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders^(A) through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”^(B)

¹² Very truly I tell you, whoever believes^(A) in me will do the works I have been doing,^(B) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

¹¹ but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God,^(A) and healed those who needed healing.

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man^(A)

¹⁷ One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law^(B) were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.^(C)

⁵⁴ As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. ⁵⁵ They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. ⁵⁶ And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,^(A) and all who touched it were healed.
