⁹ If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame^(A) and are being asked how he was healed,

⁷ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.

¹⁴ If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,^(A) you are blessed,^(B) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

¹⁵ But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer^(A) to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope^(B) that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, ¹⁶ keeping a clear conscience,^(C) so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.^{(D) 17} For it is better, if it is God’s will,^(E) to suffer for doing good^(F) than for doing evil.

³² but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”

²³ Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?
