The Believers Share Their Possessions

³² All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.^{(A) 33} With great power the apostles continued to testify^(B) to the resurrection^(C) of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace^(D) was so powerfully at work in them all ³⁴ that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them,^(E) brought the money from the sales ³⁵ and put it at the apostles’ feet,^(F) and it was distributed to anyone who had need.^(G)

³⁶ Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas^(H) (which means “son of encouragement”), ³⁷ sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.^(I)

²⁷ During this time some prophets^(A) came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. ²⁸ One of them, named Agabus,^(B) stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world.^(C) (This happened during the reign of Claudius.)^{(D) 29} The disciples,^(E) as each one was able, decided to provide help^(F) for the brothers and sisters^(G) living in Judea. ³⁰ This they did, sending their gift to the elders^(H) by Barnabas^(I) and Saul.^(J)
