²¹ After threatening them again, they let them go, finding no way to punish them because of the people, for all of them praised God for what had happened.^(A)

²⁶ Then the captain went with the temple police and brought them, but without violence, for they were afraid of being stoned by the people.^(A)

² The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus^[a] to death, for they were afraid of the people.^(A)

¹⁹ When the scribes and chief priests realized that he had told this parable against them, they wanted to lay hands on him at that very hour, but they feared the people.^(A)

⁶ But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ all the people will stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”^(A)

⁴⁶ They wanted to arrest him, but they feared the crowds, because they regarded him as a prophet.^(A)

⁸ When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings.^(A)

⁴⁰ and when they had called in the apostles, they had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and let them go.^(A)

¹⁷ But to keep it from spreading further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.”

⁶ Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,^[a] stand up and walk.”^{(A) 7} And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. ⁸ Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. ⁹ All the people saw him walking and praising God,^(B)
