¹⁶ “What are we going to do with these men?”^(A) they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign,^(B) and we cannot deny it.

¹⁰ But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.^(A)

⁷ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. ⁸ He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping,^(A) and praising God. ⁹ When all the people^(B) saw him walking and praising God, ¹⁰ they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful,^(C) and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

¹⁸ Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign,^(A) went out to meet him.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests and the Pharisees^(A) called a meeting^(B) of the Sanhedrin.^(C)

“What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs.^{(D) 48} If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”

¹⁵ For I will give you^(A) words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

¹⁰ He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored. ¹¹ But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious^(A) and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

¹⁶ At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus^[a] Barabbas.

⁸ The goat became very great, but at the height of its power the large horn was broken off,^(A) and in its place four prominent horns grew up toward the four winds of heaven.^(B)

⁵ As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground.
