¹¹ This is the ^(A)‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’

A Cornerstone in Zion

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord God:

¹⁰ Have you not even read this Scripture:

^12 (B)And they sought to lay hands on Him, but feared the multitude, for they knew He had spoken the parable against them. So they left Him and went away.

⁴² Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:

⁴³ “Therefore I say to you, ^(B)the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. ⁴⁴ And ^(C)whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, ^(D)it will grind him to powder.”

⁴⁵ Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they ^[a]perceived that He was speaking of them.

⁶ Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who ^[a]are disobedient,

⁸ and

^(D)They stumble, being disobedient to the word, ^(E)to which they also were appointed.

⁶ So he answered and said to me:

²⁰ having been ^(A)built ^(B)on the foundation of the ^(C)apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being ^(D)the chief cornerstone, ²¹ in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into ^(E)a holy temple in the Lord, ^22 (F)in whom you also are being built together for a ^(G)dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

¹⁶ He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to ^(A)others.”

And when they heard it they said, “Certainly not!”

¹⁷ Then He looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written:

¹⁸ Whoever falls on that stone will be ^(C)broken; but ^(D)on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”
