Peter’s Second Sermon

11 While he was clinging to (A)Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the [a](B)portico named Solomon’s, completely astonished. 12 But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why are you staring at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk? 13 (C)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, (D)the God of our fathers, has glorified His [b](E)servant Jesus, the one whom (F)you handed over and disowned in the presence of (G)Pilate, when he had (H)decided to release Him. 14 But you disowned (I)the Holy and Righteous One, and (J)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the [c](K)Prince of life, whom (L)God raised from the dead, [d]a fact to which we are (M)witnesses. 16 And on the basis of faith (N)in His name, it is [e]the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

17 “And now, brothers, I know that you acted (O)in ignorance, just as your (P)rulers also did. 18 But the things which (Q)God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, (R)that His [f]Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way. 19 Therefore (S)repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that (T)times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20 and that He may send Jesus, the [g]Christ appointed for you, 21 (U)whom heaven must receive until the [h]period of (V)restoration of all things, about which (W)God spoke by the mouths of His holy prophets from ancient times. 22 Moses said, ‘(X)The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your countrymen; to Him you shall listen regarding everything He says to you. 23 (Y)And it shall be that every (Z)soul that does not listen to that prophet (AA)shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 And likewise, (AB)all the prophets who have spoken from Samuel and his successors onward, have also announced these days. 25 It is you who are (AC)the sons of the prophets and of the (AD)covenant which God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘(AE)And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 God (AF)raised up His [i]Servant for you (AG)first, and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”

Preaching in Solomon’s Portico

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch (A)which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 (B)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, (C)glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you (D)delivered up and (E)denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied (F)the Holy One (G)and the Just, and (H)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the [a]Prince of life, (I)whom God raised from the dead, (J)of which we are witnesses. 16 (K)And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that (L)you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But (M)those things which God foretold (N)by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 (O)Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send [b]Jesus Christ, who was [c]preached to you before, 21 (P)whom heaven must receive until the times of (Q)restoration of all things, (R)which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since [d]the world began. 22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, (S)‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 Yes, and (T)all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also [e]foretold these days. 25 (U)You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, (V)‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 To you (W)first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, (X)in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”
