²⁴ “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets^(A) who have spoken have foretold these days.

²¹ Heaven must receive him^(A) until the time comes for God to restore everything,^(B) as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.^(C)

²⁷ And beginning with Moses^(A) and all the Prophets,^(B) he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.^(C)

²⁰ And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba^(A) recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.^(B)

Righteousness Through Faith

²¹ But now apart from the law the righteousness of God^(A) has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.^(B)

²⁰ All this took about 450 years.

“After this, God gave them judges^(A) until the time of Samuel the prophet.^(B)

The Lord Calls Samuel

3 The boy Samuel ministered^(A) before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare;^(B) there were not many visions.^(C)

¹⁸ But Samuel was ministering^(A) before the Lord—a boy wearing a linen ephod.^(B)
