Paul Arrives in Rome

11 Now at the end of three months we set sail on (A)an Alexandrian ship which had wintered at the island, and which had [a]the Twin Brothers for its figurehead. 12 After we put into Syracuse, we stayed there for three days. 13 From there we sailed around and arrived at Rhegium, and after a day when a south wind sprang up, on the second day we came to Puteoli. 14 [b]There we found some (B)brothers, and were invited to stay with them for seven days; and thus we came to Rome. 15 And the (C)brothers, when they heard about us, came from there as far as the [c]Market of Appius and [d]Three Inns to meet us. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

16 And when we entered Rome, Paul was (D)allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.

Paul makes it to Rome

11 After three months we put out to sea in a ship that had spent the winter at the island. It was an Alexandrian ship with carvings of the twin gods Castor and Pollux as its figurehead. 12 We landed in Syracuse where we stayed three days. 13 From there we sailed to Rhegium. After one day a south wind came up, and we arrived on the second day in Puteoli. 14 There we found brothers and sisters who urged us to stay with them for a week. In this way we came to Rome. 15 When the brothers and sisters there heard about us, they came as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us. When Paul saw them, he gave thanks to God and was encouraged. 16 When we entered Rome, Paul was permitted to live by himself, with a soldier guarding him.
