⁷ Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days.

^40 (A)“Whoever receives you receives me, and ^(B)whoever receives me receives him who sent me. ^41 (C)The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.

¹² But when Gallio was ^(A)proconsul of Achaia, ^(B)the Jews^[a] made a united attack on Paul and ^(C)brought him before the tribunal,

⁷ He was with ^(A)the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.

⁶ So he hurried and came down and ^(A)received him joyfully. ⁷ And when they saw it, they all ^(B)grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods ^(C)I give to the poor. And if I have ^(D)defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it ^(E)fourfold.” ⁹ And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since ^(F)he also is a son of Abraham.
